Owner of the Billy Goat tavern Billy Sianis was asked to leave Wrigley Field because his goat was bothering other patrons, so he said “Those Cubs ain’t gonna win no more.”
And that’s exactly what’s happened. But it can’t go on for ever. The Cubs have suffered some incredible moments of misfortune, once infamously at the hands of one of their own fans, but this year as a team they are simply better than the Indians. They will not be thinking about the curse and it won’t affect them.
The only effect the curse has for us punters is to give us better odds on backing the Cubs to win the World Series, and that’s my recommended bet.
