Artur Beterbiev will defend the unified light heavyweight championship against Anthony Yarde this weekend. Yarde will receive his second shot at a world title, and this time, “The Beast from The East” is hoping to bring home the gold.

Yarde’s previous world title fight was in August 2019, when he lost in the 11th round to Sergey Kovalev via knockout. The boxer had the chance to win the WBO light heavyweight belt. Now, Yarde has the chance to win the same WBO championship along with the WBC and IBF versions of the belt.

Betebiev is one of the top boxers pound-for-pound in the world today. The unified light heavyweight champion has a record of 18-0. Can the Russian defeat Yarde in the title fight?

Artur Betebiev goes into the fight as the bookmakers’ favourite to win. The Russian is undefeated as a professional fighter. All 18 wins were by knockout and his last six fights failed to go past the 10th round.

Betebiev last fought in June 2022 against Joe Smith Jr. The 12-round fight went just two rounds, as Betebiev won by TKO to add the WBO light heavyweight title to his collection of belts.

Yarde fought more recently, battling Stefani Koykov in November 2022. “The Beast from the East” won the match via KO in the third round.

Who is the Favourite?

Betebiev is the favourite to win the fight. The Russian is on fire as a professional boxer with a record of 18-0. All 18 of those wins came via knockout. Yarde is in danger of not getting past the third or fourth round for this one.

Perhaps the only advantage Yarde has going into the fight is that the match will be held in the United Kingdom. Betebiev has never fought in the UK and the London-born Yarde should have his countrymen cheering him on this weekend.

Artur Betebiev vs Anthony Yarde Tips

singleSelection

Yarde has the most difficult task of his career on Saturday. Betebiev is a wrecking ball and has the belts to prove his quality in the light heavyweight division. Yarde will need all of the support from the London crowd to help him stand up against Betebiev on Saturday. Even then, it may not matter.

Since losing to Sergey Kovalev, Yarde has been on a journey to rebuild himself. He suffered another defeat just the next year against Lyndon Arthur. The British boxer is on a three-match winning streak but now faces one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world currently.

Betebiev should win this fight, with Yarde struggling to keep up with him. Our betting tips prediction is for the fight to end in under 5.5 rounds. Betebiev made quick work of his last opponent, Joe Smith, winning in two rounds.

A great round bet may be to select Betebiev to win in round 5 at odds of 8/1.
