Deontay Wilder puts his WBC heavyweight title on the line for a 10th time on Saturday night in Las Vegas when he squares off for a second time against Luis Ortiz. The Cuban gave Wilder all he could handle in their first bout so could he make the 'Bronze Bomber' end up regretting his decision to get back in the ring with him?

Deontay Wilder v Luis Ortiz II Betting Odds

The unbeaten Wilder starts as the 1/5 favourite to pick up the 42nd victory of his career and on stay on track for a huge showdown with Tyson Fury in 2020. The Alabama native can't afford to overlook Ortiz, though, his opponent having had him on the ropes and in big trouble in the seventh round of their first encounter last March.

Had it not been for the bell, Ortiz could have won that fight and having emptied his tank in search of the stoppage, a tired challenger was eventually put down for the count in the 10th.

Ortiz has since strung together three decent victories to get him back to this stage and has been working hard on his conditioning in order to avoid a repeat outcome from his first meeting with Wilder. He's the 9/2 outsider to become Cuba's first world heavyweight champion, while a draw, which has only occurred once in 76 fights involving the two men, is 33/1

These two only know how to fight one way and that is on the front foot, looking for the knockout. Only one of Wilder's 41 victories have come via the judges scorecards, while 84 per cent of Ortiz's fight haven't gone the distance.

'King Kong' created plenty of issues for Wilder last March with his body shots and counterpunching, and his camp will look to capitalise on that. However, Wilder should have learnt a lot from the first fight and his defensive work should be less amateurish.

Even with Ortiz's extra conditioning work, Wilder still has the edge and will be looking to make sure he secures a more emphatic, early victory.

At age 40, this is likely to be Ortiz's last shot at heavyweight glory and he will be going all out. However, he looks set to be carried out on his shield against Wilder, who is a man on a mission to establish himself as the top heavyweight in the world.

With age, height and reach on his side, coupled with the experience of the first fight, Wilder has all the tools to stay on course to a mega-money bout with Fury.
