Lawrence Okolie fights Jack Massey looking to try and retain his British and Commonwealth cruiserweight titles on Saturday evening. Dan McCarthy takes a look at the betting markets ahead of the bout.

Betting Tips

Okolie to win the fight @ 1/17 - BET NOW

The Hackney-born fighter is without question the favourite for the contest and it is not too difficult to see why. The 26-year-old has a perfect record from 12 fights and has won eight of them by KO, including his last bout against Wadi Camacho, as he retained his British title and gained the Commonwealth one.

He finished off Camacho in just four rounds as "The Sauce" showed his devastating power to good effect in the March bout at the Copper Box Arena. He has a particularly awkward style, which has been tough for fighters facing him in the past and is reflected by his current record.

His punching power has also been highly lauded and there have been some comparisons with Anthony Joshua in the boxing circles given his natural build and ferocity.

His weaknesses are also linked to those of Joshua - occasionally his awkward style can be his undoing - and a lack of finesse could be caught out by those regarded as better 'boxers' instead of 'fighters', with his chin sometimes susceptible.

However, Okolie himself has displayed supreme confidence heading into the fight and believes a win here would set him up for a world title fight.

Massey to win the fight @ 7/1 - BET NOW

Massey is the big underdog for Saturday's bout despite of his record of 16 wins from 16, with 8 KOs. The 26-year-old Derbyshire sparrer - nicknamed "One Smack" for his punching power - has never fought for any titles or belts.

Questions have been raised about the quality of his opponents in recent bouts, but Massey is undoubtedly talented although he is taking a massive step up to face Okolie.

His last fight was against Kent Kauppinen, who had lost 11 of his 13 fights in his career, and before that he faced Jiri Svacina, who has lost 32 fights throughout his career.

However, Massey has shown he can punch with venom, and if Okolie is not on his game, and his awkward stance hinders him, Massey could possibly take advantage.

Prediction

Okolie to win on points

While the stats and odds may perhaps point to an Okolie win, there will certainly be more to this fight than just an easy win for the Londoner. Massey, being the underdog, has nothing to lose and all the pressure will be on his opponent.

He is a real scrapper, but the fact he has never boxed to 12 rounds before indicates the fight might have come too soon for him, although expect a long evening for Okolie and a tough contest.
