UFC heavyweights Derrick Lewis and Sergey Spivak will headline this weekend’s UFC Fight Night 218 card from Sin City. Lewis is looking to get back on track after a series of defeats in the octagon.

Spivak is aiming to keep his UFC career on the rise. He goes into the heavyweight bout with back-to-back wins in the octagon. Despite Lewis’s recent poor run of results, he has been training hard and is in peak-performance shape ahead of the fight.

UFC Fight Night 218 will feature 11 additional bouts, with plenty of new names getting their chance at mixed martial arts glory.

UFC FIGHT NIGHT Date

UFC Fight Night Lewis vs Spivak will take place on Saturday, February 4, 2023. The event will be held at the UFC Apex Center in UFC’s hometown of Las Vegas.

The preliminary card will start at midnight in the UK. Fans can watch the main card from 3 AM. The main event for UFC Fight Night isn’t expected to start until 6 AM on Sunday.

UFC FIGHT NIGHT Location

UFC Fight Night will take place in the home of mixed martial arts and top-ranked boxing, Las Vegas, Nevada. The show will be broadcast from the UFC Apex Center.

Who is the Favourite to win the Fight?

Sergey Spivak is the bookmakers’ favourite to win the fight in the lead-up to Saturday’s bout in Sin City. Spivak is on a two-fight winning streak ahead of Fight Night, while Lewis is on a two-match losing streak.

At 37, Lewis is at the end of his career. He last fought in July 2022 at UFC 277. He lost inside 55 seconds in the first round to Sergei Pavlovich via TKO. Despite back-to-back losses, Lewis is ranked No 7 in the UFC’s heavyweight division.

Spivak’s most recent fight was in August 2022 at UFC On ESPN: Santos vs Hill. He defeated Augusto Sakai in the second round via TKO. Spivak is ranked No 12 in the UFC’s heavyweight rankings. A win over Lewis would see him shoot up the standings.

Derrick Lewis Record

Derrick Lewis has an MMA record of 26-10. He has won 21 times by knockout, one by submission, and four by decision. Lewis is 37 years old and will make his 38th appearance in the octagon this weekend. The heavyweight fighter is on a two-match losing streak.

Sergey Spivak Record

Sergey Spivak has a record of 15-3 with seven wins by knockout, six by submission, and two wins by decision. Spivak is on a two-fight winning streak, with both fights ending in TKO victories. Spivak is nine years younger than Lewis and will hope his youth makes up for a lack of experience compared to Lewis.

UFC Fight Night Prediction

Sergey Spivak is the favourite and it is difficult to see the No 12 ranked heavyweight losing to Lewis. Sure, Lewis has gone through a transformation in fitness and looks great, but the veteran fighter is 37. Lewis has seen better days in the octagon and is slowing down.

Spivak is in the prime of his UFC/MMA career. He is fresh off of back-to-back wins and could shoot up the UFC heavyweight rankings with a win. Spivak won his last two matches with TKOs. Lewis is on a two-match losing and was beaten in three of his last four fights. In all three defeats, he was knocked out. In July 2022, Lewis lost via TKO in the first round.

Bookmakers have Spivak as the favourite, and the “Polar Bear” should pick up the win. This fight may not go long with Lewis’s last bout not making it past the first round. Spivak should win by knockout at odds of 4/6. A second-round Spivak win is priced at 9/2. Don’t expect this fight to go the distance or to go past the 2.5 round-mark.
