Dereck Chisora is aiming to give the unbeaten Oleksandr Usyk a shock when the pair face off on highly-anticipated Saturday fright night.
Usyk vs Chisora Betting Odds
Chisora is an 11-2 shot to cause a major upset and become the first professional to beat the Ukrainian. Usyk is well fancied to make it 18 wins on the bounce and he is available at a best-price of 1-7.
Saturday’s fight will be Usyk’s toughest test since stepping-up to heavyweight. It’s even-money that he wins by knockout and 6-4 that the Ukrainian outpoints Del Boy.
Chisora is under no illusions about the task he faces on Halloween night, with the London brawler describing Usyk as the number one fighter of all the pugilists he has faced.
That’s a major compliment when you consider that Chisora has been in with former world heavyweight champions Vitali Klitschko and David Haye and the current WBC champ Tyson Fury.
There’s no doubt that Fury has improved since his two bouts with Del Boy and you can also suggest that Chisora’s dedication and commitment has gone up a level or two as well. However, the fact that the 38-year-old has made those comments underlines the gravity of the task he will face.
Usyk is a former undisputed world cruiserweight champion and brings an undefeated 17-fight record to the ring.
The Ukrainian blitzed Tony Bellew in his final fight in the cruiserweight division and has since stepped-up in weight class to face Chazz Witherspoon. Usyk has also faced Michael Hunter, who drew with Alexander Povetkin in a heavyweight bout last year, at cruiser so there are glimmers to suggest he can be as effective in this division.
However, this fight represents his biggest heavyweight test to date and the question is will Usyk’s movement, speed and boxing ability be too much for the size, ruggedness and toughness of Chisora.
Usyk vs Chisora Prediction
Del Boy has been in with heavier-hitters and only Haye, White and Fury have managed to get him out of the ring before the final bell.
Chisora has gone 12 rounds with Kubrat Pulev and Vitali Klitschko and in his first fights with White and Fury. However, although Usyk is small in comparison to those fighters he has the boxing ability, variety of punches and movement that perhaps only the 'Gypsy King' could get close to matching.
It’s unlikely that the Ukrainian will stop Chisora with one single punch, in the style of a Deontay Wilder, but it is likely that he will break his opponent down with a barrage of blows and it may be too much for Chisora to withstand.
There’s no doubt that Chisora’s motivation, preparation and condition is the best it has been in his career, despite him now being 36-years-old, but he faces a fighter at his peak and a supremely talented one at that.
This could be the start of a campaign that takes Usyk to the top of the heavyweight division and it could pay to side with a resounding win for the Ukrainian.
