After an enforced 12-month wait, the T20 World Cup is finally set to get underway with the UAE hosting the tournament - which starts on Saturday October 23.

Twelve of the world's top international teams are set to battle it out for the biggest prize in the shortest format of the game, in what is the seventh edition of this T20 event.

T20 World Cup Betting Odds

India, who have not lifted the trophy since the inaugural event in 2007, are the current 5/2 favourites to win the tournament.

The 2010 champions, England, are the second favourites at 7/2, while Australia - who have yet to win the T20 World Cup - can be backed at 13/2.

It's also a best-price 13/2 for defending champions West Indies, who are the only team to have won the competition on more than one occasion, with success in both 2012 and 2016.

New Zealand are the next country in the betting at 7/1 while the unpredictable Pakistan, 2009 winners, can be backed at 10/1.

T20 World Cup Teams

The teams are split into two groups for the 'Super 12' stage, with eight teams also battling it out in qualifying for four places in the main draw.

Group 1 includes England, West Indies, Australia and South Africa, with two of the qualifiers making up the six teams.

Two more qualifiers will be in Group 2, joining India, Pakistan, New Zealand and Afghanistan - who are playing in their fifth T20 World Cup.

The 2014 winners, Sri Lanka, are one of the eight countries trying to qualifying for the main event, along with Ireland, Scotland, Netherlands, Bangladesh, Namibia, Papua New Guinea and Oman.

England to win - BET NOW

Even without the absent Ben Stokes, England have the strength in depth to be crowned tournament winners, especially when considering their recent T20 form.

Eoin Morgan's men - ranked top of the rankings - have won nine of their last 11 Twenty20 series and have claimed victory in 15 of their last 22 T20 internationals.

They also have what looks to be the easier of the two groups, with Australia struggling in white-ball cricket - winning just four of their last 15 T20 internationals - while the Windies are currently ranked ninth in the standings.

Pakistan to win - BET NOW

In terms of a bigger priced option, it would be worth considering Pakistan, who have plenty of experience of playing in the UAE.

In their last 14 T20 matches, the men in Green have won nine and in captain Babar Azam, they have the second ranked batsman in world T20 cricket.

Vice-captain Shadab Kahn offers a crucial leg-break factor, with 58 wickets in 53 T20 internationals to date, while Shaheen Afridi brings both pace and accuracy.
