Australia v England 3rd ODI

- 15:01, 17th January 2014

After an agonising loss in the second ODI when they seemed to be nailed on certainties to record their first win of the tour England travel to Sydney low on morale and staring another series defeat in the face. Tom Powell is on hand with his best bet for the third ODI as Australia look to rub salt in the wound…

Tom’s recommended tip:

Century To Be Scored? No @ Evens – BET NOW

Despite both ODIs so far having seen 100s hit I think even money is value on no-one reaching three figures in Sydney.

You’re only ever likely to get one century maker per match in the short form of the game and that’s what we’ve seen so far with Aaron Finch nailing 121 in the opening match followed by Eoin Morgan’s 106 in Brisbane. Lots of players have made contributions with seven 50s over the first two ODIs but with just two centuries so far I think even money is a worthwhile gamble on no century in this match.

In the match betting Australia are worthy favourites at a short price 2/5 (Ladbrokes) with some firms offering odds as short as 1/3 on another home win. England came close and certainly have the side to pick up a win but after such a demoralising loss in Brisbane it’s hard to see them picking themselves up though odds of 3.35 (Betfair) might tempt a few punters. England once again hit more sixes than Australia so that market may tempt a few looking to have a bet on the match with the tourists priced at 6/4 (Coral) to clear the rope more times than Australia who are 10/11 (SkyBet).

Finch fell for 0 for the second match in a row (got a second ball duck for Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash) to all but hand England the highest opening partnership yet Australia remain favourites in that market at 10/11 with England priced at 11/10 (Stan James and Coral).
