After levelling the series with their dominant innings and a 76 run win at Headingley, England will now be looking to back it up against India when the pair clash in this week's fourth Test.

The Oval is the venue from Thursday, with both sides looking to gain the advantage ahead of the final game at Old Trafford.

England vs India Betting Odds

A look at the betting shows that England are the 5/4 favourites and that is justified by their fine record in Kennington, winning their last three Tests at the ground.

That run includes a 118-run win against India in 2018. In fact, you have to go back to 1971 to find the last time the tourists took the honours in SE11.

The Indians have lost their last eight Test trips to the Oval, and the venue's positioning in the schedule is sure to have raised a wry smile from Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri.

India are 6/4 to win while the draw is 7/2. That said, the forecast looks solid, with Sunday afternoon the only time that rain is predicted, suggesting a result will be in the offing, either way.

England vs India Team News

Jonny Bairstow will keep wicket for England, with Jos Buttler electing to miss the fourth Test as his wife is expecting their second child.

All-rounder Chris Woakes has been passed fit following a heel problem, while Mark Wood is also back in contention after missing out at Headingley through a shoulder issue.

For India, Kohli has hinted at changes to his side following their poor showing in Leeds. The skipper says he plans to continue with five specialist bowlers but there is a clamour for the inclusion of Ravi Ashwin.

Ranked second in the ICC's Test Bowling Rankings, Ashwin has to date been overlooked but could get the nod in Kennington if the captain feels the pitch will turn.

England to Win - Bet Now

England's record at the Oval deserves plenty of respect and with the fourth Test often decisive in any series, it doesn't feel an accident that the pair head to Kennington at this stage of their rivalry.

The tourists will be hoping that the 50th anniversary of their last Test win at the ground could prove golden but the momentum looks to be against them.

Rain hampered India at Trent Bridge, while they were well above the hosts at Lord's. However, they were poor at Headingley. An improvement is expected but England's form at the Oval is no accident and it would be no surprise to see them shine again.

Joe Root Top England Batsman - BET NOW

It's no secret that Joe Root has been head and shoulders above everyone else for England during the current series.

The 30-year-old's tactical nous as a captain, as he himself has admitted, may not always be where it should be, but his batting has been incredible.

Root's Test average of 45.44 has been bolstered by three centuries so far this series, taking his tally to six for the year.

His Oval record is a bit of a mixed bag, with his last five innings reading 50-0-125-57-21, that century coming against India three years ago. The form he's in, and the way he hit back after the perhaps justified criticism after the 151-run defeat at Lord's, suggests he will again be ready to dig in and carry his team with the bat.

Root's form has been required, with England's openers falling well short of what's needed. That said, after his struggles batting at three in the second Test, Haseeb Hameed looked more like the player everyone expected him to be second time out in making a stodgy 68 off 195 in England's sole innings at Headingley.

Rory Burns also appeared more comfortable in his 61, although that was following up the duck he received at Lord's, having opened with 49.

India could make changes, but they will definitely have Rohit Sharma at the top of the order. The 34-year-old has had to rein in his attacking instincts to make a go of it in the Test arena but now has a real feel for the longest format.

While not perfect, the 34-year-old has notched half-centuries in the last two matches. Opening partner KL Rahul struggled in Leeds, but he is sure to bounce back, especially having made 149 in his last Oval innings, and the feeling is the pair can set their team up nicely.
