India vs England 4th Test Betting Tips
There is more of a familiar look to the series scoreline as the teams head into the fourth and final Test, which gets underway in Ahmedabad in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Having opened up the series with a surprising win, England have been soundly beaten in both the second and third Tests to fall 2-1 behind.
Although confidence has been hit for six by those two recent defeats, there is still plenty to play for in the finale as England can salvage a draw in the series with a win, while India need to at least avoid defeat in order to qualify for the World Test Championship Final.
India vs England Betting Odds
There is no doubt that the first Test defeat served as a wake-up call for India, perhaps still revelling in a series win in Australia with an understrength side.
Regardless of the assistance in the pitches, India have since comprehensively outplayed the tourists in all departments, racking up successive wins in fine style with a 317-run victory followed by a 10-wicket demolition inside two days.
It is no surprise that Virat Kohli's men have been installed as favourites, though odds of 40/85 are perhaps not as short as they could have been given the manner of those two victories.
England, of course, have won a Test on this tour but there needs to be a dramatic change of fortune for an away success to land at 18/5, while a draw seems even less likely at 6/1, despite India not necessarily needing to win.
India vs England Team News
India to win - BET NOW
India will make at least one change for the fourth Test after Jasprit Bumrah left the bubble for "personal reasons". Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Siraj stand by as the pace options, while all-rounder Hardik Pandya could be recalled to strengthen the batting.
Leg-spinner Kuldeep Yadav is also an option to come into the side, as a straight replacement for Bumrah, although he may get the nod anyway in preference to Washington Sundar.
Having misread the conditions for the third Test, England are unlikely to make the same mistake for the fourth, taking place at the same venue, and Dom Bess is sure to be recalled as the second frontline spinner, with Moeen Ali also having left the bubble.
At least one fast bowler is likely to make way but given the fact the spinners dominated last time, England could rotate all three anyway.
Given that the Three Lions have not scored 200 in their last five innings, while they didn't even reach that in two efforts in the third Test, the temptation would be to make wholesale batting changes but whether that happens is doubtful given those that may come back in have already failed on this tour.
India vs England Prediction
Rohit Sharma - Top India Batsman - BET NOW
Virat Kohli is the best batsman in the India side, arguably the world, and there is an argument he is due a big knock but Rohit offers more value at the prices.
The powerful opener is clearly in form and after a disappointing first Test, he has bounced back in fine style, seemingly playing on different pitches to both England and his team-mates with scores of 161 and 66 to win this market in the last two low-scoring Tests.
Axar Patel - Top India Bowler
Spin claimed 19 of the 20 England wickets to fall in the third Test and it would be folly to think a spinner will not top the wicket-takers again.
Ravichandran Ashwin shades favouritism at 7/4 and there is no doubting his abilities, particularly against England, but Axar gets the nod to ride the wave in what will be just his third Test.
He may have only taken two wickets in the first innings on debut but he has since claimed three five-wicket hauls in three innings, including 6-38 first time around in the last Test at the same venue, and he is tipped to repeat the dose.
Hundred in the match - NO - BET NOW
With so much already said about the state of the pitches as well as England's vulnerability against spin, it should not be forgotten that India were bowled out for 145 last time out.
Depending on what state of mind England's batsmen are in, a lot is still likely to depend on the bowlers to keep the tourists in the game.
Having had some joy themselves in Ahmedabad already they cannot be overlooked and it could be another low-scoring match, regardless of who comes out on top.
