Premier League darts is back - and it's never looked quite this different.

Defending champion Glen Durrant leads a ten-man field in pursuit of the £250,000 first prize with all the matches being played in April and May behind closed doors at the Marshall Arena, Milton Keynes.

Two players will be eliminated after the first round of nine fixtures with the top eight in the table going onto phase two in May. The semi-finals and final will be staged on May 28.

Michael van Gerwen is easier to back than he has been for years as he struggles for consistency. No longer the world champion and no longer the world No.1, The Green Machine is a 5/2 shot to claim a record-equalling sixth Premier League crown.

Michael Van Gerwen to win - BET NOW

Van Gerwen is disputing favouritism with the man who has deposed him at the top of the world rankings, Gerwyn Price. The Welshman and reigning world champ can be backed at 11/4, though he has yet to even make the playoffs in his three previous Premier League tilts.

Third favourite Peter Wright is back for an eighth attempt and is at 5/1 while his compatriot and two-time winner Gary Anderson is available at 14/1.

That's the same price as Belgium's Dimitri van den Bergh, one of three debutants in the 2021 field with another, Jose de Sousa, at 16/1. Jonny Clayton, the third newboy, started as a 18/1 chance but is into 12/1 following strong form in the Super Series.

Glen Durrant is the reigning champion but so indifferent is his form that the former Lakeside title winner from Middlesbrough is a 33/1 poke.

Nathan Aspinall To Win - BET NOW

'The Asp' couldn't have enjoyed a better debut, showing real class by winning three of his last four matches simply to make the playoffs, then beating Peter Wright in the semis.

Aspinall fell short in the final, pipped by Durrant, but a Masters' quarter-final appearance and two Pro Tour semis thus far in '21 suggest that changes he has made to his equipment were a gamble worth taking.

A major winner, Aspinall was overpriced last year and it looks like the same thing has happened this time round as well.

There was nothing for favourite backers last year when 11/10 shot Van Gerwen failed to even make the playoffs as bookies celebrated a final between Durrant, at 28/1, and Nathan Aspinall, a 20/1 chance.

Durrant's joy kickstarted a summer and autumn of darting shocks which have continued this year with Jonny Clayton getting up at The Masters at a massive 150/1 and James Wade dotting up at 40/1 at the UK Open.

It's safe to assume anything and everything is possible in this current, crazy, crowd-free climate, and expect more shocks and surprises in the Premier League.
