Michael Smith is through to his second World Darts Championship final after seeing off the likes of Jonny Clayton and Gerwyn Price, and he now faces Peter Wright, who is seeking his second title after being crowned champion in 2020.

It’s the final showdown at the PDC World Championship and it should be a cracking evening of Alexandra Palace action. Peter Wright is 4/5 to claim a second world crown, while Michael Smith is an 11/10 shot.

The pair have hit an incredible 114 maximums between them in the tournament and the total 180s line has been set at 33.5. Snakebite is 21/20 to hit the most maximums in the final, it’s 11/10 that Bully Boy outscores him and the tie is a 12/1 poke.

There is no shortage of previous meetings between these two arrowsmiths. Wright leads the overall head-to-head 23-12 and Snakebite has won five of his last six matches against the St Helens man. 

Looking a bit deeper, it’s 13-3 in Wright’s favour in televised matches, and again the Scot has the advantage when it comes to finals. The pair have clashed three times in finals of competitions, the 2020 Masters, 2018 Melbourne Darts Masters and a 2017 UK Open qualifier. Snakebite has won all three of those contests. 

Wright has won two of the three matches that the duo have played this season and it’s also interesting to note that the Scot has covered the handicap in all of his last six wins over Bully Boy.

It’s fair to say that for one reason or another, this year’s PDC World Championship had been a bit of a slow burner. However, the semi-finals certainly lived up to expectations and that was down to the quality of both Wright and Smith. 

In terms of names, Bully Boy looks to have had the tougher route to the final. The St Helens man has beaten Ron Meulenkamp, Willie O'Connor, Jonny Clayton, Gerwyn Price and James Wade to reach this stage and clearly wins over Clayton and Price are the standout victories on his card. 

However, the three-dart tournament averages almost identical. Wright is at 100.66, while Smith has hit 100.65. 

Of course, Snakebtie has the experience of dealing with the occasion, when lifting the trophy two years ago, and although Bully Boy was beaten in 2019, he does have that final under his belt.

It seems highly likely that both arrowsmiths will give their best this evening and the winner will be decided by one of two crucial doubles either way.
