The PDC World Darts Championship will wrap up its first-round matches on Wednesday, as the tournament goes into day No 7. Along with ending the first round, the event will see PDC World Darts Championship outright winner favourite, Michael van Gerwen play his first match.

Fans were robbed of watching Van Gerwen at last year’s World Darts Championship. The Dutchman tested positive for COVID-19 and had to withdraw from the competition. Now, Van Gerwen is back and tipped by many to win the tournament.

Day No 7 is loaded with big matches. Along with Van Gerwen playing his first match, tournament outright winner dark horse, Josh Rock will be in action.

Wednesday brings the first round to an end and the serious business of winning the PDC World Darts Championship is turned up a notch. Wednesday will see the bookmakers’ favourite, Michael van Gerwen, in action against Wales’ Lewy Williams.

If you want to get the best odds on Van Gerwen to win the PDC World Darts Championship, then you better act fast. His odds are likely to shorten further with a second-round win against Williams. Van Gerwen is currently 5/2 to win the tournament.

Josh Rock is a player some pundits are tipping for big things. Rock will play a second-round match on Wednesday against Callan Rydz. Rock posted a 3-1 win against Jose Justicia in the first round. Rydz reached the quarterfinals last season.

Fans are anticipating Michael van Gerwen’s debut in the 2023 edition of the tournament. He will play Lewy Williams. Wednesday’s action kicks off at 12:45 PM with the afternoon session. The evening session will begin at 7:15 PM.

Wednesday PDC World Darts Championship 2023 Betting Tips

The most intriguing match of the day may be Callan Rydz playing Josh Rock. Rock picked up a 3-1 win against Jose Justicia in the first round and now goes up against Rydz as the favourite. Bookmakers have Rock at odds of 1/3 to pick up the win.

Rydz reached the quarterfinals of the 2022 edition of the PDC World Darts Championship. So, don’t rule him out of upsetting Rock. The players are at odds of 4/9 to go over 3.5 sets. Rock needed four sets to see off Justicia in the first round. You should consider this market for Rydz versus Rock.

Michael Van Gerwen is the heavy favourite to win against Lewy Williams. Williams reached the second round with a 3-0 win against Niels Zonneveld. Williams just missed out on a nine-dart attempt versus Zonneveld.

Fans may expect Van Gerwen to come out and blitz Williams. However, the Welshman could provide some strong opposition. Williams is unlikely to win, but he could make Van Gerwen work for the victory. Bookmakers believe MVG and Williams will play under 3.5 sets. The odds on under 3.5 sets is1/2, while over 3.5 sets are at 6/4. Our betting tips prediction is for over 3.5 sets, as Williams makes the tournament favourite work for the win.

Wednesday PDC World Darts Championship 2023 Prediction

John O’Shea and Darius Labanauskas go into their first-round match both at the betting odds of 10/11. This is a close match and the players are difficult to split. Set markets are the ideal place to look for this match.

O’Shea and Labanauskas are at odds of 13/8 to tally over 4.5 sets. The pair are at odds of 4/9 to finish with under 4.5 sets. The match odds for O’Shea and Labanauskas are tight, which makes us think this game could be close, with it finishing with over 4.5 sets.

Mervyn King will play Danny Baggish in the second round. King is the favourite at 8/13 to win, while Baggish is at odds of 13/10 to claim the victory. Baggish is now ranked No 95 in the PDC. King is No 27 in the world, so there is quite a gulf in class here.

King reached the semifinals of the PDC World Darts Championship in 2009. Since then, his best performance was in 2022, reaching the quarterfinals. Baggish could pull off an upset after a first-round 3-0 win over Matt Campbell. King cannot underestimate the American. This could go five sets with King just edging Baggish 3-2.
