Adrian Lewis v James Wade (Thursday, 19:00, Sky Sports 1)

Match Betting: Adrian Lewis 6/4, Draw 7/2, James Wade 7/5

Simon’s Tip: NO BET

On form James Wade looks value for the win at 7/5 but I can’t quite advise the bet. The Machine produced a solid performance to beat Raymond van Barneveld 7-3 last week and carried on that momentum in the floor events over the weekend. Adrian Lewis is without a Premier League win in five attempts now and his throw is all over the place, however Jackpot is so unpredictable that I’d rather leave the betting alone. Don’t forget this is the man who averaged 113.80 on the opening night – he can unexpectedly destroy any player at any given time!

Peter Wright v Stephen Bunting (Thursday, 19:30, Sky Sports 1)

Peter Wright 6/5, Draw 4/1, Stephen Bunting 15/8

Peter Wright To Win @ 6/5 – BET NOW

Peter Wright destroyed Stephen Bunting 10-0 in the UK Open semi-finals two weekends ago and Snakebite looks value for another win at 6/5. Visually he seems to have sped up his throw in recent weeks and it’s working as he’s put together a nice match unbeaten Premier League run – including a 7-5 win against Kim Huybrechts last Thursday – while he’s been good away from this tournament as well. Admittedly Bunting is in a bit of form after two straight Premier League wins, however his opponents (Adrian Lewis and Dave Chisnall) averaged a combined 95.5 and this expected step up in class could be too much for him.

Phil Taylor v Raymond van Barneveld (Thursday, 20:00, Sky Sports 1)

Phil Taylor 9/20, Draw 5/1, Raymond van Barneveld 5/1

Phil Taylor -2.5 Handicap @ Evens – BET NOW

It’s pretty hard to look past a comfortable Phil Taylor win here. The Power’s long-term domination over his greatest rival is well documented and it currently stands at 50 wins from 66 matches, including an easy 6-2 triumph in January’s World Championship semi-finals. Taylor lost 7-3 to Michael van Gerwen last week but I’d expect everyone to lose heavily to MVG right now so that’s no disgrace – he’d won three of his previous four Premier League matches and has the second highest tournament average so overall he’s still in really good nick. Barney’s demise is saddening to witness and he averaged a pitiful 88.38 in his 7-3 loss to James Wade last week – he is showing no signs of recapturing his form. Almost all firms are odds-on about Taylor covering the -2.5 handicap line so I’ll take the evens that’s available with one company.

Gary Anderson v Kim Huybrechts (Thursday, 20:30, Sky Sports 1)

Gary Anderson 8/13, Draw 9/2, Kim Huybrechts 7/2

Gary Anderson -2.5 Handicap @ 11/8 – BET NOW

Gary Anderson is back. The world champion admitted to being fatigued at the start of the tournament but last week’s 7-1 win over Adrian Lewis – averaging 108.98 no less – was his unofficial comeback. The Flying Scotsman will have the Scottish crowd very much on his side and I’m expecting another superb performance against Kim Huybrechts, who despite staying in most of his matches has been crumbling at the crucial moments. Take Anderson with a -2.5 handicap deficit at 11/8.

Dave Chisnall v Michael Van Gerwen (Thursday, 21:00, Sky Sports 1)

Dave Chisnall 4/1, Draw 9/2, Michael Van Gerwen 11/20

Over 7.5 180s @ 5/4 – BET NOW

These players seem to bring the best out of each other – as is often the case with fast-playing 180 hitters – so expect a quality contest to close the evening. The Dave Chisnall of two weeks ago would have given Michael Van Gerwen a proper match here but since his UK Open defeat to Stephen Bunting (when he missed an extraordinary amount of doubles) he’s not been the same player. MVG continues to tick along serenely at the top of the table and is just on a different level to anyone else in the world right now – nothing more needs to be said. However, this match does bring together the two biggest maximum hitters in the tournament and their combined 180 averages so far amount to 7.16 per game. The 180 line is 7.5 which is slightly higher than that but both players normally spur each other on to even greater maximum heights which could be enough to land the over line at a best price 5/4.
