James Wade v Michael Van Gerwen (Thursday, 19:00, Sky Sports 1)

Match Betting: James Wade 4/1, Draw 9/2, Michael Van Gerwen 8/15

SIMON’S TIP: NO BET

Michael Van Gerwen continues to soar majestically atop the Premier League table and he was sublime again last week in beating Raymond van Barneveld 7-2 while averaging 108.71. That was the sixth time in eight Premier League matches that MVG has averaged over 100 and in his current form it’s impossible to oppose the #1 here, even at 8/15. James Wade is doing what James Wade does – solid and consistent – he’s only lost two of eight games so far. However, the Machine has lost nine of his last 10 matches with Van Gerwen and he’ll require a rare off night from his opponent to get anywhere near him. Against any other player at the current prices I’d consider backing Wade on the handicap but not MVG so it’s a no bet match for me – expect another Van Gerwen masterclass.

Dave Chisnall v Phil Taylor (Thursday, 19:30, Sky Sports 1)

Dave Chisnall 4/1, Draw 5/1, Phil Taylor 4/7

Dave Chisnall -1.5 180s Handicap @ 7/5 – BET NOW

Phil Taylor should win this though match odds of 4/7 are prohibitive. The Power currently sits 5th in the table so has a fight on his hands to make the play-offs though he continues to rack up impressive averages and was again good in dispatching Kim Huybrechts 7-4 last week with a 104.04 average. Dave Chisnall snapped a two match losing streak last week but it was only against Adrian Lewis who is in shocking nick – I still don’t think Chizzy is capturing the heights of his early tournament form. However, one thing you can guarantee with Chisnall is a lot of 180s – he managed another four last week and only Van Gerwen has hit more than his 29 for the tournament. Taylor is never a huge 180 hitter despite throwing a few more than normal recently – I’ll take Chisnall on the 180 handicap at a best price 7/5.

Kim Huybrechts v Stephen Bunting (Thursday, 20:00, Sky Sports 1)

Kim Huybrechts 8/5, Draw 7/2, Stephen Bunting 11/8

Stephen Bunting To Win @ 11/8 – BET NOW

Kim Huybrechts is 1/33 to be relegated and he knows even a win may not be enough to ensure his survival. Stephen Bunting needs to win just two legs to guarantee safety (the bookies aren’t even pricing him up to be relegated) so he should be able to relax once he gets those two on the board. The Bullet has been a little bit disappointing in the Premier League despite sitting 6th – he has the second lowest tournament average (94.59) – but Huybrechts has completely tailed off and has lost his last three in a row never averaging above 98.04. Bunting is the better player and with less pressure on his shoulders he looks the bet to end Huybrecht’s debut Premier League campaign at 11/8.

Adrian Lewis v Peter Wright (Thursday, 20:30, Sky Sports 1)

Adrian Lewis 5/4, Draw 7/2, Peter Wright 7/4

Draw @ 7/2 – BET NOW

This is the most interesting match of the night. Adrian Lewis is safe with a win while Peter Wright is safe with a win or draw so both players have plenty of motivation, though in truth both are playing poorly. Jackpot is now on a seven match winless Premier League run and was trounced 7-2 by Chisnall last week, while Snakebite has also only won one game all tournament and averaged just 87.81 in his 7-3 loss to James Wade last time out. These two look very evenly matched and in such a high-pressure encounter we could do a lot worse than the draw at 7/2, which would see Wright safe but Lewis reliant on a Gary Anderson win in the final match.

Gary Anderson v Raymond van Barneveld (Thursday, 21:00, Sky Sports 1)

Gary Anderson 8/13, Draw 9/2, Raymond van Barneveld 10/3

NO BET

This is such a difficult match to bet on just because we don’t know what Raymond van Barneveld’s situation will be. If other results go his way he may even be able to get through taking a hammering or conversely he may need to go all out for the win. Either way it’ll be very tough for Barney against Gary Anderson, who has won three straight matches and looks back to his best. If the big Dutchman needs a result then this could be a very tasty match but there are so many imponderables that it’s impossible to advise a bet.
