The UEFA Nations League is back and resumes this week. Germany will get their UEFA Nations League campaign underway once more versus Hungary on Friday night in Leipzig.

Hungary shocked their UEFA Nations League Group A3 in June with two wins against England. The Hungarians also drew with Germany 1-1 and go into this weekend’s match atop Group A3.

Germany are unbeaten in the group stage. However, the Germans won just one of their opening four matches. Germany’s lone victory was against Italy, 5-2, in Monchengladbach. Hansi Flick’s team has three draws from four matches in the group. Germany are second in Group A3 with six points.

Full-time result: Germany to win

odds

Hungary picked up a 1-1 draw with Germany in the teams’ previous UEFA Nations League encounter. Zsolt Nagy scored in the sixth minute for Hungary, but Germany’s Jonas Hofman cancelled the goal in the ninth minute.

Germany came from behind for the 1-1 draw. In Leipzig, Germany will have the home fans behind them. The Bundesliga is in full flow, and it should help the Germans pick up a win at full-time.

Germany have a record of 13W-12D-11L against Hungary. The Germans are unbeaten in four straight matches versus Hungary. Games between these two nations have occurred regularly in recent seasons. The last two encounters ended in draws.

Since taking over the national team job, Hansi Flick has not lost a match. He has a record of 6W-4D-0L in all competitions. Germany’s most recent match was a win against Italy by a score of 5-2. Two of their last three matches in Germany were victories. Our betting tips prediction is for Germany to win at full-time.

Total goals: Under 4.5 goals

odds

Germany put five goals by the Italians in June. The five-goal haul was a rarity for the Germans in 2022, as they had not scored more than 2.0 goals in a single game this year before playing Italy.

Hungary’s six matches this season all finished with under 4.5 goals scored. Our betting tips prediction is to back under 4.5 goals for this match.

The reverse fixture played in Budapest ended 1-1. It was a close affair with both goals coming in the opening nine minutes of the match. The last five matches between Germany and Hungary all finished with under 4.5 goals scored.

A German win would send them to the top of Group A3. A loss to Hungary would allow the visitors to extend their lead in the group. Friday night’s match should be close with under 4.5 goals scored. Germany’s 5-2 win against Italy is unlikely to be repeated in Leipzig.

Both teams to score - Yes

odds

Germany’s defence is not watertight. The Germans conceded goals in each of their last five international matches. Hungary picked up a 1-1 draw in Budapest in June. Germany were on a run of four consecutive draws, all ending 1-1, at the time.

Two of Hungary’s last three matches finished with both teams scoring goals. Manager Marco Rossi has goal scorers at his disposal. Dominik Szoboszlai, Adam Szalai, and Daniel Gazdag are all capable in front of the goal.

The last two matches between Germany and Hungary ended with both teams scoring. These teams met at the European Championship in 2021 and the match ended 2-2. Our betting tips prediction is for both teams to score goals. Hungary scored in each of their last five international fixtures. Germany scored in every match under Flick’s leadership so far.

Total corners: Over 5.5 corners

odds

The first UEFA Nations League encounter between Hungary and Germany finished with nine corners. Our betting tips prediction is for another high total and over 5.5 corners combined.

Germany’s 5-2 win against Italy in June finished with over 5.5 corners. The two rivals combined for 9.0 corners at full-time.

Hungary’s 4-0 shock win against England in Wolverhampton finished with six combined corners. Hungary recorded zero corners during the match. All six corners went to England. The match also ended with more than 5.5 corners.

Germany and Hungary could combine for over 5.5 corners on Friday night. The Germans should put Hungary under pressure from the start. Germany must win the match to go top of the group standings.

Total shots on target: Serge Gnabry over 0.5 shots on target

Bayern Munich forward Serge Gnabry will play in attack for Germany. Although Bayern are not in great form at the moment, Gnabry is playing well. The forward has three goals and four assists in 11 matches in all competitions.

The forward played across the front three in Bayern Munich’s opening three matches. Gnabry played five times as a second striker for Julian Nagelsmann’s team.

Flick loved Gnabry during their time together at Bayern. Flick should use Gnabry as a winger rather than a second striker. This will allow Gnabry to run at defenders in wide areas.

The forward scored 20 goals in 34 matches for the German national team. Gnabry has a brilliant strike-rate. Our betting tips prediction is for Gnabry to tally over 0.5 shots on target. The forward should have plenty of chances in front of the goal to get off shots.
