The early Premier League kick off this Saturday comes from the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal host Man City with both sides looking to bounce back from stuttering results on the third weekend of the season. Arsenal’s home matches don’t see many goals so a low scoring match looks value here…
Arsenal v Man City (Saturday, 12:45, BT Sport 1)
Tom Powell’s Verdict: UNDER 2.5 GOALS @ 28/25 – BET NOW
Arsenal proved a tough nut to crack for the Premier League’s better sides at the Emirates last season with the prevailing trend in those matches being based around low scoring affairs so that’s the angle to go with this weekend.
Although Arsenal took a beating away to the league’s better sides last term they proved a tough nut to crack at home with City, Chelsea and Man United all settling for draws in North London while Liverpool and Spurs were beaten by Arsene Wenger’s men though all of those matches saw less than three goals scored. That means that all seven of Arsenal’s home clashes with the top eight last season went under 2.5 goals and in total 18 of the 29 (62%) matches played at the Emirates followed that trend which makes you wonder why three goals or more is as short as 7/10.
That short price on a high scoring match may be due to the amount of attacking talent likely to be on show this weekend though it’s well worth noting these sides aren’t short of class at the back. Arsenal racked up 16 clean sheets at home last season and 24 in total while Man City managed 23 in all competitions last campaign.
We rarely see many goals at the Emirates in big games so I don’t envisage this Saturday’s clash being any different.
Arsenal v Man City Team News: Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud and Serge Gnabry are definitely out for Arsenal though they could call on one or two players that limped out of the last match at Leicester while deadline day signing Danny Welbeck is in line to make his debut. Stevan Jovetic, Fernando and Pablo Zabaleta are doubts for the visitors.
Anytime Angle: Alexis Sanchez @ 11/5 – BET NOW. Has played through the middle in his last two matches and netted in both of them so should be a danger to Man City’s sometimes fragile backline.
Banker Bet: Arsenal +0.5 Asian Handicap @ 63/100 – BET NOW. Nine of my 12 ‘banker bets’ have landed this term and this should too if last season’s results are anything to go by. Arsenal lost just once at home and that came on the opening day.
Premier League Betting: After a shock 1-0 loss to Stoke at home last time out Man City are out to a best price 11/4 in the title race with Chelsea now 22/25. Arsenal are third favourites with odds of 13/1 on offer with 8/15 available on them finishing in the top four.
