Arsenal welcome Everton to the Emirates on Friday night in a top-nine clash. The Gunners are on a two-match unbeaten run in the Premier League and could draw level on 49 points with eighth-place Everton. Carlo Ancelotti’s team are in a poor state of form. They are winless in five straight games with three consecutive matches ending in draws. They came from behind to draw 2-2 with Tottenham Hotspur last weekend and will hope to take points off of Arsenal in north London.

The home team are unbeaten in the last six games in the Premier League when Arsenal and Everton have played. Toffees won 2-1 at Goodison Park earlier this season with a Rob Holding own goal and Yerry Mina strike offsetting a penalty from Nicolas Pepe. Arsenal recorded 13 shots with just two on target. They dominated possession with 58%, however.

Everton’s last win in north London against Arsenal came well over 20 years ago. Their form doesn’t suggest that a victory will be claimed at the end of full-time this weekend. Arsenal are coming off of a 1-1 draw versus Fulham at the Emirates. Mikel Arteta needs to keep the team’s momentum going with their Europa League semifinal against Villarreal upcoming.

Everton are four points off of sixth-place Liverpool. The sixth-place position could be a Europa League qualification place depending on the winner of the Carabao Cup Final this coming weekend. The Gunners are seven points off of that same potential Europa League qualification position.

Arsenal vs Everton Betting Odds

Arteta’s team took a mere nine points from the last 18 available in the league. Although just one of their last six games ended in a loss, they won just twice during that same time period. Arsenal’s defence allowed nine goals to opponents over those six games. Bookies have the Gunners at odds of 17/20 to win at full-time at home versus Everton.

The last seven games between these clubs played at the Emirates in all competitions all ended in victories for Arsenal. Everton have not taken a point at the Emirates since the 2013-14 Premier League campaign. The teams are at odds of 17/6 to finish in a draw on Friday night in north London.

Everton go into the game at odds of 17/5 to win against Arsenal away for the first time in over 20 years. The Toffees took just six points from their last 18 on offer in the Premier League. The team are struggling for goals with just five tallied over the course of those six matches. Ancelotti’s team only conceded seven times, but Everton’s scoring issues are keeping them from winning matches.

Everton fans will not be happy to hear Ancelotti is in the running for the now vacant Tottenham Hotspur managerial job. Spurs are casting a wide net, however. Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Nuno Espirito Santo, RB Leipzig’s Julian Nagelsmann, and others are in the running for the manager’s job at Spurs.

Arsenal vs Everton Team News

Arteta has a big player absence going into the game as striker Alexandre Lacazette is ruled out with a thigh injury. The manager will be hopeful that Lacazette is fit to play in the Europa League semifinal first leg, but may not be available for the fixture. Centre-back David Luiz is ruled out following a minor knee surgery. Left-back Kieran Tierney is ruled out with a knee injury as well.

Midfielder Martin Odergaard could return to the side following an ankle injury. Odergaard is highly coveted by the Arsenal coaching staff. However, he is expected to return to Real Madrid after the Spanish side claimed Odergaard to be “untouchable”. Forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a doubt following a bout of malaria.

Ancelotti has had consistent injuries throughout the season. The team’s inconsistent play has been a result of the continually player issues at Goodison Park. Midfielders Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Abdoulaye Doucoure are both ruled out of the fixture. The former has a knee injury while the latter has an ankle injury.

The manager is could to be without forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin due to a groin injury. Midfielder Andre Gomes is nearing a return from a thigh injury. The duo of Bernard and Yerry Mina are doubts for the fixture due to their respective injuries. Their absences will affect Everton’s defence.

Pepe is still not the player every Arsenal fan expected him to be following a £72 million move from Lille. The French club got a great deal while Arsenal have not got a lot of goals or assists. In 24 league matches this season, Pepe has five goals and an assist. He tallied a penalty goal against Everton in the last meeting between the teams.
