Arsenal sealed their passage to the FA Cup semifinals at Wembley with a dramatic 90th-minute winner against Sheffield United on Sunday winning 2-1. The Gunners could cap off a difficult season by lifting the FA Cup trophy but will face off with Manchester City in the semifinals.
Norwich City were not as lucky as Arsenal over the weekend. The Canaries lost 2-1 to Manchester United in extra-time and must now turn their attention to escaping the Premier League relegation zone. Norwich City are six points from safety with 21 points still left to play for. Daniel Farke’s team are not terrible but inconsistent defending have them chasing 17th-placed West Ham.
Norwich City shocked Arsenal by claiming a 2-2 draw at Carrow Road earlier this season. The Canaries were brilliant in the match taking a 2-1 lead into halftime. Goals from Teemu Pukki and Todd Cantwell twice forced Arsenal to come from behind. Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice to get the Gunners a share of the spoils.
The previous match between Arsenal and Norwich City came before Mikel Arteta was hired as the team’s manager. Arteta has done well with the Gunners and should have them primed for another home win on Wednesday night.
Norwich City will have the bonus of nearly 24 hours extra rest prior to kick off at the Emirates. The Canaries played on Saturday afternoon in the FA Cup while Arsenal played the following day versus Sheffield United.
Arsenal are unbeaten in five straight game in the league at the Emirates. Three straight home fixtures ended in wins for the Gunners. Despite their good home form, the Gunners did not restart the Premier League well. They have played three matches since the restart with just one of those games finishing in a win.
Norwich City are the Premier League’s worst team in terms of away points. Farke’s team have taken a mere six points from 45 possible. Just one time this season have Norwich City won in the Premier League. It is a dreadful record that is the reason for their relegation from.
Norwich City have not won away at Arsenal in the last two decades. The Canaries have claimed just one win against Arsenal in their last 12 meetings and that victory came in 2012 at Carrow Road. The good news for Farke is that Norwich City have drawn three of their last four matches versus Arsenal in all competitions. Can the Canaries finally win away at the Emirates or will Arsenal continue their good home form?
Arteta has eight players suffering from injury at the Emirates. The manager has been hit with an injury bug at the wrong time in the season and may have to protect some of his players on Wednesday night. Bernd Leno, Calum Chambers, Gabriel Martinelli, and Pablo Mari are all ruled out of the match due to long-term injuries.
The manager is still waiting of the latest injury news on players Cedric Soares, Lucas Torreira, David Luiz, and Mesut Ozil. All four are nearing returns but may not be fit enough to take part in the fixture. Arteta will surely start attacking midfielder Dani Ceballos on Wednesday night following his game winning goal in the FA Cup quarterfinals on Sunday.
Norwich City will be without Grant Hanley, Christoph Zimmermann, and Sam Byram due to their respective injuries. The trio shouldn’t be a big miss. Centre-back Timm Klose will also miss the fixture but his absence is due to a red card sending off against Manchester United in the FA Cup on Sunday. His absence could be an issue for Farke due to Norwich City’s poor defensive record. Norwich City have conceded the second most goals in the league with 56 allowed.

Arsenal and Norwich City both scored when the teams met in December. Arsenal’s defence has not got that much better and could give up a strike to Norwich City on Wednesday night. The Gunners allow 1.3 goals per game in the league and two of their last five matches in the competitions saw goals conceded. Fatigue could be a factor after coming off of a 2-1 win at Bramall Lane on versus Sheffield United.
Over 2.5 goals scored - BET NOW
The two clubs combined for four goals when they met earlier this season at Carrow Road. The two sides both struggle in defence which could lead to another four-goal thriller. Since the Gunners restarted the Premier League post-COVID-19 break, they have seen three of their four games in all competitions finish with over 2.5 goals scored. Two of Norwich City’s last three games in all competitions ended with over 2.5 goals scored.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to score anytime - BET NOW
Arteta has favoured playing striker Eddie Nketiah since the Premier League’s restart. His decision to play Nketiah could be down to the impending exit of Alexandre Lacazette, who is out of contract in 2021. The striker hasn’t had a great time at Arsenal and could move on. Aubameyang’s contract is also up in 2021 and could move on from the Emirates. Still, he is a vital part of Arsenal’s goal scoring and could once again find the back of the net against Norwich City.
Aubameyang scored twice at Carrow Road in December and has 17 goals in 29 league appearances. He hasn’t scored since matchday 27, however. Norwich City’s weak defence could be the remedy to Aubameyang’s goal scoring drought.
Norwich City are on the way back to the EFL Championship unless something dramatic happens. The Canaries should give Arsenal a game away at the Emirates. However, the home side will get a victory in the end and possibly closing the gap on sixth-placed Manchester United. Arteta has done well thus far but still has a long way to go as Arsenal manager to get the club back to the top four.
