Barcelona vs Sevilla Betting Odds

According to leading sportsbooks, Barcelona are heavy favourite to win at home against Sevilla. The Blaugrana are 11/20 to win at home in the second leg of the Copa del Rey and to win against Sevilla for the second time in a week. Looking at Barcelona’s La Liga form, they are atop the form table in the league with 16 points from their last 18 on offer.

As the Copa del Rey first leg showed, Barcelona’s form may not carry over the competition. They lost 2-0 in the first leg and Julen Lopetegui could park the bus at Camp Nou. Sevilla are a strong defensive team. They have conceded 29 goals in all competitions this season for an average of 0.78 goals per match. Sevilla are at odds of 5/1 to win away on Thursday night the Copa del Rey.

Los Rojiblancos are second in the La Liga form standings. They conceded just twice over the course of their last six games and those two goals were both scored by Barcelona.

Ronald Koeman’s side will be confident of winning against Sevilla just days after Ousmane Dembele and Lionel Messi scoring on either side of halftime in the league to win. Barcelona go into the match averaging 2.11 goals per game and conceding 1.00 goals a match.

Barcelona vs Sevilla Team News

The big issue surrounding Barcelona going into the match is a problem off the pitch – imagine that. On Monday, Catalan police raided the club’s offices and made several arrests due to an investigation into financial issues. Ex-president and CEO Josep Bartomeu was also arrest on Monday.

Koeman’s injury list expanded at the weekend with an injury to Pedri. The forward suffered an ankle injury and won’t return until late March. Ronald Araujo and Miralem Pjanic are both suffering from ankle injuries. Like Pedri, the duo is not expected to play until March. Sergi Roberto has a thigh injury and may not play.

Philippe Coutinho is nearing a return from a knee injury. He did suffer a recent setback in training which could keep him out slightly longer than hoped. Ansu Fati remains out with a knee injury. He is expected back in April. Koeman may be doing well in the league currently, but reports on Monday indicate Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta could take over in the summer.

Lopetegui has two injury issues heading into the week. Lucas Ocampos has an ankle injury and Marcos Acuna has a hamstring issue. Both players are expected back this month, but Wednesday night’s match could be too soon for a return.

Both teams to score: NO @ 5/4 - BET NOW

Two of the three games between Barcelona and Sevilla this season finished with both teams not scoring goals. Four of the last five games in all competitions between the rivals also ended with both teams not finding the back of the net. Barcelona will go forward and try to score goals. Sevilla could park the bus and aim to hit the Blaugrana on the break. Don’t expect to see the same Sevilla side that lost 2-0 to Barcelona at the weekend to show up in midweek.

Sevilla to qualify for the Copa del Rey Final @ 3/10 - BET NOW

Sevilla need to keep from losing this match. It seems simple, right? Los Rojiblancos were the best team in the first leg and outplayed Barcelona despite the Blaugrana having superior stats. Sevilla are a good team, especially in defence. Just 0.78 goals are allowed per game by Sevilla in all competitions.

Barcelona need Lionel Messi to step up and score goals to get them through to the final. He has tallied 35% of Barcelona’s goals in 2020-21. If Barcelona fail to reach the Copa del Rey Final – and everything else stays the same – they will fail to win any piece of silverware. The club lost the Supercopa de Espana to Athletic Bilbao and are unlikely to win La Liga or progress past Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Wednesday night’s game will be a close affair with Barcelona struggling to get through. They’ve got to score at least twice to level the scoreline.
