The Championship will present a Boxing Day spread of matches. Ten games will take place on Boxing Day in the second division as teams move into the second half of the campaign. The race for the top six in the Championship is red-hot.

Boxing Day Championship Betting Tips

Eight teams are within four points of the final promotion playoff place with half the season gone. The Championship’s promotion playoff picture is littered with teams and is wide open. Meanwhile, the bottom seven teams in the Championship are separated by just eight points.

Enjoy our Championship betting tips for this weekend and please bet responsibly.

Cardiff City vs Queens Park Rangers

Cardiff City are one of those teams battling for Championship survival. The Bluebirds are 20th in the league standings with 26 points from 23 games. Manager Mark Hudson was appointed on November 14 and has since picked up back-to-back draws with Cardiff City.

Queens Park Rangers also recently replaced their manager, as Michael Beale bolted for Rangers in November. The club appointed another former Steven Gerrard assistant, Neil Critchley, as boss on December 11.

Critchley previously managed Blackpool, leading them to success in League One. QPR picked up a 1-0 away win against Preston North End in Critchley’s debut game.

Queens Park Rangers picked up five wins from their last six games against Cardiff City. Earlier this season, QPR won 3-0 at Loftus Road against the Bluebirds.

Cardiff City are winless in four straight games at home ahead of the match on Boxing Day. Queens Park Rangers could pick up a win in this one away from home, just as they did at Preston last time out.

Bristol City vs West Brom

West Brom’s renaissance under new manager Carlos Corberan came to an end last time out in the Championship. The Baggies were beaten by Coventry City 1-0 at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

The defeat ended a great winning run under Corberan. Now, it is back to the drawing board for the Baggies. West Brom are still the Championship’s in-form team with 15 points from the last 18 points on offer.

Bristol City are one of the relegation fighters in the Championship. The Robins are 18th in the standings with 27 points from 23 games. Just one of Bristol City’s last six games in the league ended as a win.

Bristol City picked up a 2-0 win at the Hawthorns earlier this season against West Brom. The match took place during Steve Bruce’s doomed reign as West Brom manager. Corberan will aim to get the Baggies back to winning ways.

A double chance Bristol City win or West Brom win covers two of three possible outcomes. It is a safe bet on a game featuring a team in poor form and a side trying to improve their chances of making the top six.

Middlesbrough vs Wigan Athletic

Middlesbrough were 4-1 winners against Wigan Athletic earlier this season in the Championship. The Boro are unbeaten in six straight games against Wigan in the league and will fancy their chances of a seventh match without defeat.

Michael Carrick has turned around the Boro’s fortunes this season. The team won five of their last six games in the league and are four points off the final promotion playoff place.

Wigan are 23rd in the 24-team Championship. New manager Kolo Toure has not won a game in charge of Wigan but has taken one point from six on offer. Wigan are just two points away from safety in the Championship.

Middlesbrough are unbeaten in five of their last six games at home. The Boro have posted five draws from 11 games at the Riverside Stadium. Five of their six stalemates have come at home. Wigan Athletic, on the other hand, picked up 15 of their 24 points on the road this term.

The Latics are better on the road than at home, which could result in them picking up a point. A Boxing Day double chance Middlesbrough win or draw will cover two possible outcomes.

Rotherham vs Stoke City

Stoke City posted a record of 2W-3D-1L against Rotherham in the teams’ last six head-to-head matches. Rotherham went to the Bet365 Stadium earlier this season and picked up a 1-0 win.

The Boxing Day fixture between these teams is a relegation six-pointer. Stoke City are 17th in the division with 29 points from 23 games. Rotherham are 19th in the standings with 26 points from 23 games.

Of the two teams, Stoke City are in better form going into the match. The Potters are unbeaten in back-to-back games. They drew 2-2 with Cardiff City before defeating Bristol City 2-1.

Rotherham are on a two-game losing streak in which they conceded three goals in each of the last two matches. The Millers lost 3-1 to Bristol City at home and 3-0 to West Brom away. Our betting tips prediction is for over 2.5 goals, as Rotherham’s defence struggles once more.

Luton Town vs Norwich City

Luton Town and Norwich City split the last six games in all competitions three wins apiece. The Hatters picked up a 1-0 win earlier this season at Carrow Road and are aiming for a second straight victory over Norwich.

Luton Town are in poor form ahead of Norwich City’s arrival. The Hatters took just six points from the last six games. New manager Rob Edwards has overseen just one match since taking over for Nathan Jones on November 17. The game ended as a 2-1 defeat to Middlesbrough.

Norwich City picked up 10 points from the last 18 points on offer. However, the Canaries lost two of their last three games in the league.

Norwich City are playing well on the road with back-to-back wins coming away from Carrow Road. Luton, on the other hand, drew their last three games at Kenilworth Road in the Championship. Seven of Luton’s 11 games at home this season finished as stalemates.

The Hatters lead the league in draws with nine from 22 games. You may consider a draw at full-time between these teams. Luton Town don’t lose many home matches, but they don’t win many home games either.
