Brighton vs Fulham Betting Tips
Brighton host Fulham on Wednesday at the Amex Stadium in a massive six-point Premier League fixture. Brighton sit 17th in the Premier League table on 17 points. Fulham are 18th and in the relegation zone going into the midweek match. They are five points back of Brighton and sit on 12 points. After an uptick in form in which Fulham gained points through consecutive draws, they are on a two-match losing streak. Manager Scott Parker will aim for his side to get a vital win and keep hopes of survival alive.
The Seagulls go into the game having won on matchday 19. They surprised Leeds United by winning 1-0 at Elland Road. The win ended a long winless streak in the Premier League for the club. These teams met previously in the league this term with the match ending in a nil-nil draw.
Neither of the clubs go into the match in particularly good form. Brighton have taken six points from their last 18 on offer. Fulham have obtained four points from their last 18 possible. Fulham’s back-to-back losses did come against Chelsea and Manchester United, two teams that would have expected to win versus the Cottagers. Against Brighton, Fulham should do better.
Graham Potter will fancy his chances of getting a second straight win at Fulham. Can the Seagulls make it two wins on the trot?
Brighton vs Fulham Betting Odds
Brighton head into the matchday 20 six-point showdown with Fulham as leading sportsbooks favourite to win. The Seagulls are at odds of 21/20 to end Wednesday night with a victory over the Cottagers. Brighton have taken a mere four points at the Amex Stadium, however. They are yet to win at home while recording four draws. While the defence has allowed eight goals to opponents at home, the Seagulls’ attack has been abysmal, scoring six goals in six games.
Fulham have been better on the road than Brighton have been at home. The Cottagers have taken six points from 18 on offer, scoring five goals and conceding seven times. While goal scoring has been an issue for Parker, he has seen an uptick in performance from his defence. That improved performance has made it possible for Fulham to gain draws. Their last two road matches finished in draws against Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur. Both ended with 1-1 scorelines.
Brighton and Fulham are the draw masters of the Premier League. The Seagulls lead the league with eight draws from 19 matches. Meanwhile, Fulham have drawn six times from 18 matches – the third-most in the league.
Fulham are coming off of a weekend FA Cup fourth round loss to Burnley. The Cottagers were downed 3-0 on the day. The loss won’t be seen as a major problem, however. It gives Parker the chance to now fully focus on catching Brighton in the race for survival. A loss on Wednesday night will make catching the Seagulls far more difficult.
Brighton vs Fulham Team News
Potter has eight players on his injury list heading into the match on Wednesday night. Florin Andone, Tariq Lamptey, Danny Welbeck, Jose Izquierdo, and Ali Jahanbakhsh are all ruled out due to their various injuries and fitness issues.
Potter could have the attacking duo of Adam Lallana and Aaron Connolly back from injury. They are both set to take fitness tests to prove their ability to play in midweek. Goalkeeper Jason Steele is a doubt for the game. Brighton allowed first-choice goalkeeper Mat Ryan to leave the club this month to join Arsenal on loan. Christian Walton will take Ryan’s place in the team. Ryan had fallen out of favour with Potter which allowed him to make an upward move to Arsenal.
Parker has far fewer injury issues going into matchday 20 thank Potter. Terence Kongolo remains injured and is ruled out for the fixture. Tom Cairney is also listed as injured for the match and won’t take part in the game. The club won’t have Antonee Robinson available due to a red card suspension. He will return at the weekend.
According to Parker, the club are not “close” to signing new players in January. It is unlikely that Fulham will add any new players this month to reinforce the squad despite the vast riches of their owners.
Brighton vs Fulham Prediction
Both teams to score: YES @ 19/20 - BET NOW
The previous match between these clubs at Craven Cottage finished nil-nil with neither side able to score. Brighton nor Fulham score many goals. But Wednesday night’s match is a six-point affair. So, these teams really need to go out and try to score goals. Fulham have scored in each of their last two away matches against Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur. Don’t be surprised for both to get on the scoresheet as they go for goal.
Neal Maupay to score anytime @ 7/4 - BET NOW
Neal Maupay is the bright spot for Brighton. He has scored seven of the club’s 22 league goals this season. Maupay has scored 32% of the club’s league scoring. The Frenchman has scored three goals in his last five Premier League games. He is nearly single-handedly keeping Brighton out of the relegation zone. He scored last time out versus Leeds United as Brighton won away.
Under 2.5 goals scored @ 8/11 - BET NOW
As neither club are scoring many goals in the league, this fixture should be a low-scoring match. They finished level at nil-nil in December when they last met. Although the clubs should score this time around, the game shouldn’t see too many goals. Five of Fulham’s last six matches in the league finished with under 2.5 goals tallied. Four of Brighton’s last six matches in the league ended with under 2.5 goals scored. These teams should see another low-scoring match with nothing separating them.
Brighton and Fulham are the draw kings of the division. Wednesday night’s six-point affair could finish with neither club getting the upper hand. Brighton could achieve their ninth draw of the season at home versus Fulham. The Seagulls haven’t won at home this term, achieving all four points via draw.
