The new season in Germany starts in four weeks’ time and although Bayern Munich are the red-hot favourites for a seventh straight title, it could be a closer call this time around.
With them so far ahead in the odds, the Bundesliga betting provides plenty of value and there is lots to ponder elsewhere.
Bundesliga Domestic Double Winner @ 19/10 - BET NOW
They may not be everyone’s cup of tea but any odds-against price on Bayern has to be appreciated. After strolling to the league last term, they missed out on the DFB-Pokal against an inspired Eintracht Frankfurt.
Ironically it is Frankfurt boss Niko Kovac who takes the reins at the Allianz Arena this season and, as is often the case, it could take time for the Croatian to settle. Add into that the transfer activity still expected to come at the Allianz Arena and it could be a slow start.
If that is the case, a strong end to the season may well be worth banking on and a first domestic double since the 2015-16 campaign should not be counted out.
Bundesliga 2018-19 Winner W/O Bayern Munich @ 7/1 - BET NOW
Domenico Tedesco’s Schalke were the best of the rest last term, throwing off a modest couple of campaigns to emerge as contenders. They finished second, eight points clear of Hoffenheim in the reckoning, with Borussia Dortmund the same distance behind.
Losing Leon Goretzka and Max Meyer on free transfers is obviously a setback both on and off the field, but as ever they have invested well, with Omar Mascarell, Suat Serdar and Salif Sane all proven performers at this level, while also being at an age where Die Konigsblauen can still sell them on.
They are undoubtedly an exciting team and seem to provide the value in the Bundesliga odds for the best team without Bayern although more reticent punters may also look at the 5/1 for them to finish in the top three.
Top-Four Finish @ 8/1 - BET NOW
The competitive nature of the German top flight means any of the top teams can finish in the top four and not having European football to deal with will certainly help Borussia Monchengladbach.
Die Fohlen could only make it home in ninth last term but have brought in some astute signings, with Alassane Plea someone who could prove a steal from Nice, while Andrea Poulsen and Michael Lang will provide plenty of depth.
They also have a fine coach in Dieter Hecking, a man who despite only having the 2015 DFB-Pokal on his CV is much revered. The Wolfsburg side Hecking won the cup with three years ago is similar to this Gladbach vintage and their ability to compete every week, without any European distractions, could put them in pole position for those looking for the Bundesliga tips on the top-four betting.
