Burnley have taken a mere one point from 15 possible in the league this season. Sean Dyche’s team are not good and after failing to upgrade the side in the summer, Burnley are looking relegation in the face. On Saturday, the Clarets welcome Chelsea to Turf Moor in a game they desperately need to win.

The Blues are 10th in the league with nine points from 18. Frank Lampard’s side cannot stop dropping points. They have drawn three of their last four games in the league. Two of those draws have come in their last two matches in the league. After drawing at home 3-3 versus Southampton in which the defence gave up late goals to the Saints, Chelsea gained a point versus Manchester United away with a nil-nil result.

Chelsea went to Russia in midweek and claimed a 4-0 win versus Krasnodar in the Champions League. The big news coming out of the game for Chelsea was that four of their top attacking players – Callum Hudson-Odoi, Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic – all got on the scoresheet.

Burnley have not beaten Chelsea since the 2017-18 league season. Can the Clarets get a shock win and kickstart their season?

Burnley vs Chelsea Betting Odds

Chelsea are unbeaten in five straight games versus Burnley. The Blues won four of those five games. All five of those games finished with over 2.5 goals scored. Since these teams began playing in 2008 in the Premier League, Burnley have not won against Chelsea at Turf Moor. Their only win in the last 13 games in all competitions came at Stamford Bridge.

Burnley have played twice at Turf Moor this season. They lost both of those games by a combined score of 2-0. The Clarets have kept games low scoring, but the lack of Premier League-quality attackers has really shown this season. Burnley are 15th in the Premier League salaries table.

Three of the teams below them in the salary table were promoted from the EFL Championship last season. The club’s lack of willingness to invest in talent is certainly one of the main reasons they are no longer overachieving.

Chelsea have taken five points from 15 possible away from Stamford Bridge. They have suffered back to back draws. The Blues are +2 in goal difference with six goals for and four against. Their last three trips to Turf Moor all ended in wins.

Burnley vs Chelsea Team News

Lampard has two players suffering from injuries at Stamford Bridge. Billy Gilmour is a long-term absentee after suffering a knee injury last season. Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is out of action due to a shoulder issue. His absence has not hurt the club as new signing Edouard Mendy has played very well. Mendy’s performance against Manchester United on matchday 6 was brilliant and kept the Blues from losing.

Dyche has four players on the injury list. Jack Cork is ruled out with an ankle injury and won’t play versus Chelsea. Ben Mee is also set to miss the game. He has a thigh strain that is keeping him out of action. Mee won’t be back until after the November international break.

Burnley player Phil Bardsley and Erik Pieters are both working their ways back from injury. The duo could make their returns versus Chelsea. The Clarets have scored just three goals in five matches. Ashley Westwood, Chris Wood, and Jimmy Dunne have all got on the scoresheet.

Burnley have 1.0 actual points and an expected point figure of 6.05. They are greatly underachieving this season. Chelsea have 9.0 points and an expected point figure of 9.55. In spite of their big spend last summer, they are right on target with their point and expected points figures.

Burnley vs Chelsea Prediction

Timo Werner to score anytime - BET NOW

Timo Werner hasn’t hit the ground running as quicky as was expected. He has still scored four goals in nine games in all competitions. Werner tallied a goal from the spot in midweek versus Krasnodar along with an assist. Werner has two goals in the league with both coming against Southampton. Against a poor-quality team that looks destined for relegation, Werner could run wild on Saturday.

Chelsea to win both halves - BET NOW

Three of the last five games between Burnley and Chelsea saw the Blues winning and halftime and full-time. The Blues have been brilliant versus Burnley over the course of their last 13 games in all competitions. They should claim yet another win especially with Burnley’s very poor form this season. They have scored just three goals and even though Chelsea’s defence has been hot and cold, they have kept back to back clean sheets.

Over 2.5 goals scored - BET NOW

The last six matches versus Burnley and Chelsea ended with over 2.5 goals scored. The Blues were unbeaten in five of those six games against Burnley. Saturday’s game should see the Blues breakout with a big scoreline win versus Burnley. The Clarets are not good and should struggle to keep up with Chelsea’s attack.

Chelsea have scored 13 goals in six Premier League games. Their issue has been conceding goals, nine goals in six games. Burnley’s poor goal record will keep them from taking advantage of Chelsea’s defence.

The Blues average 54.7% possession which is the fifth-most in the league. They are fourth in the league in terms of passing accuracy, 85.7%. The Blues lead the league in aerial battles won with 62.3%. Burnley are third in aerials won with 53.1%.

Chelsea claimed a 4-0 win against Russia’s Krasnodar in midweek. Lampard could rotate his side slightly and he has the attacking players in the team to make changes. Chelsea have a home game versus Rennes in the Champions League next week. Lampard’s team should not slip up at Turf Moor and claim a win versus the Blues. Chelsea will claim a win and potentially move into the top five.
