Fresh off of a 1-0 FA Cup semifinal victory over Manchester City on Saturday, Chelsea play their game in hand on Tuesday night at home to Brighton. The Blues are in great form under manager Thomas Tuchel. The club’s decision to sack Frank Lampard and hire Tuchel has been justified with the club in the FA Cup Final and Champions League semifinal final versus Real Madrid.

Chelsea’s focus on Tuesday night will be to win against Brighton and crack the top four. They are just one point behind West Ham, who suffered a 3-2 loss to Newcastle United at the weekend. Brighton are 16th in the league going into the fixture. The Seagulls are six points ahead of Fulham in the race for Premier League safety following the Londoners draw versus Arsenal on Sunday.

Tuchel will be desperate for Chelsea to pick up all three points on Tuesday night at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea play West Ham at the weekend in a massive Champions League six-point affair. The game will be played just before Chelsea kick off their Champions League semifinal against Real Madrid.

Since Brighton were promoted to the Premier League in 2017, Chelsea are unbeaten in all competitions versus the Seagulls. In the reverse fixture, Jorginho opened the scoring for Chelsea from the penalty spot. After Brighton’s Leandro Trossard levelled the score, Reece James and Kourt Zouma found the back of the net allowing Chelsea to win 3-1.

Chelsea vs Brighton Betting Odds

Chelsea are in great form and on a high following their 1-0 win over Manchester City. Their progression to the semifinals of the Champions League and FA Cup Final could cause a hangover on Tuesday night, allowing Brighton to win for the first time versus the Blues since being promoted to the league. Chelsea took 11 points from 18 on offer in the league. Their last match in the Premier League finished in a 4-1 win versus Crystal Palace.

Bookies have Chelsea at odds of 4/7 to win the match against Brighton on Tuesday night. Although the Blues are unbeaten in eight straight games in all competitions against Brighton, their win in the reverse fixture ended a two-match run of draws. Chelsea did not score many goals over the course of their last six games. They tallied nine goals and conceded six times to opponents. Five of those six goals came in the team’s shock 5-2 loss to West Brom at Stamford Bridge.

Brighton took seven points from the last 18 available in the league. The last two games in the league ended without wins. A 2-1 loss to Manchester United finished in a nil-nil draw versus Everton. Sportsbooks have Brighton at odds of 11/2 to end their winless run against Chelsea and claim a victory. The Seagulls have taken 19 points from 45 on offer away from the Amex Stadium in 2020-21.

Chelsea vs Brighton Team News

Tuchel will once again be without centre-back Thiago Silva. The Brazilian suffered a lower back injury against Manchester City in the FA Cup semifinal at the weekend. Silva was brilliant against the Cityzens and Chelsea’s medical staff will work hard to have him ready for the Champions League semifinal versus Real Madrid.

Fellow centre-back Andreas Christensen is a doubt for the game due to a hamstring strain. Tuchel is unlikely to risk defensive midfielder Mateo Kovacic. Kovacic has been excellent this season but is recovering from a hamstring strain. Tuchel may hold Kovacic out of the next two games to get the midfielder ready for Real Madrid.

Tuchel could rotate the Chelsea squad. It is believed that Tuesday night’s game will be the last time the manager can rotate the squad heavily before a number of crunch fixtures are played. However, Chelsea have the chance to crack the top four. Tuchel may not want to rotate the side too much.

Graham Potter has five names on the Brighton injury list. Forward Percy Tau is a doubt due to a fitness issue. Forward Aaron Connolly has an ankle injury but is back in training. He could make the squad for the fixture. Forward Florin Andone is also nearing a return from injury following a thigh issue. Potter has confirmed the duo of Solly March and Tariq Lamptey are both ruled out of the game.

Chelsea to win to nil @ 29/20 - BET NOW

Brighton were held scoreless in two of their last six games in the league. The Blues are in form and coming off of a win to nil over Manchester City. Since Tuchel took over the team, Chelsea have kept 14 clean sheets – one more than they kept under Lampard. Fifteen of their clean sheets have come at Stamford Bridge.

Olivier Giroud to score anytime @ 6/4 - BET NOW

Olivier Giroud has scored four times in 14 appearances in 14 matches in the league. The Frenchman has had a lot of opportunities under Tuchel, but could be used for the first time in five league games to rotate the side. Tuchel has used Giroud more in the Champions League. This could be the last time the manager has the chance to rotate the team for a few games giving Giroud a chance in attack.

Under 2.5 goals scored @ 20/23 - BET NOW

Three of the last four games between Chelsea and Brighton in all competitions ended with under 2.5 goals scored. Chelsea have played well defensively under Tuchel and should keep this a low-scoring game. Sixteen of the matches played under Tuchel finished with under 2.5 goals scored.

Chelsea have the chance to move into the top four with a victory. A draw would also allow them to crack the top four thanks to goal difference. Liverpool’s game on Monday night versus Leeds United will have an effect on the standings. However, Chelsea will be able to go into the top four with a win. In fact, they can go third and above Leicester City with a victory.
