Of all the Champions League quarterfinal ties, Chelsea and FC Porto is the only one that already looks done and dusted. The Premier League club dominated the first leg of the quarterfinal tie in Seville with a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell on either side of halftime. Now, the teams head back to Seville for the second leg with FC Porto desperately looking for two goals to overturn Chelsea’s commanding lead.

Chelsea were brilliant in the first leg claiming 61% possession and tallying six shots with three on target. Surprisingly, FC Porto recorded 12 shots with five on target. Such was Chelsea’s brilliance that their attacks led to two goals while the Portuguese champions failed to score.

The Blues go into the Champions League quarterfinal second leg following a 4-1 thrashing of Crystal Palace. Thomas Tuchel’s team rebounded from their shock 5-2 loss to West Brom the previous week and are back to their best under the manager.

FC Porto defeated Tondela 2-0 at the weekend. Sergio Conceicao’s team scored on either side of halftime thanks to Antonio Martinez and Mehdi Taremi. FC Porto need to score twice without reply to force extra-time. Conceicao will hope the team can put in a performance similar to the one they showcased versus Juventus in the round of 16.

Chelsea vs FC Porto Odds

The second leg will take place in Seville just like the first following COVID-19 restrictions prevent the two clubs from playing at their home venues. Although the away goals rule will benefit FC Porto on Tuesday night, the game will be effectively an away match in a neutral venue. FC Porto have posted an overall record of 27W-9D-7L this season in all competitions. They have scored a whopping 82 goals while conceding 42 times. Chelsea are a different beast to the teams FC Porto face on a regular basis in Portugal, however.

Leading sportsbooks have the reigning Liga NOS champions at odds of 7/2 to win their away leg match. Chelsea, on the other hand, are at odds of 5/6 to win at full-time and progress to the semifinals. Chelsea are massive favourites to qualify for the tournament’s next round. They are at odds of 1/25 to progress even without winning the Champions League quarterfinal second leg on Tuesday.

Chelsea have posted a record of 27W-12D-7L record in all competitions. Just one of those seven losses came under Tuchel’s management. The team have been brilliant under the German tactician. They are unbeaten in 16 of their 17 matches in all competitions under Tuchel. Their 4-1 win over Crystal Palace was the first time the team scored over 2.5 goals in a game with Tuchel as manager.

Chelsea and FC Porto are at odds of 3/1 to finish in a draw on Tuesday night. The Blues have drawn seven times this season while FC Porto have posted nine draws in all competitions.

Chelsea vs FC Porto Team News

Tuchel has just one injury issue going into the match this weekend. Centre-back Andreas Christensen is suffering from a “tight hamstring”. He is a doubt to play the fixture. Thiago Silva will return to the side after missing out at the weekend due to suspension. Striker Tammy Abraham is back in line to play for Chelsea on Tuesday. Tuchel watched record signing Kai Havertz score against Crystal Palace at the weekend while Christian Pulisic bagged two goals.

Reports on Monday indicate that Hakim Ziyech could leave the club in the summer. Ziyech joined Chelsea from Ajax last offseason for €40 million, but has struggled with injury and form. The Moroccan has played in 28 games in all competitions scoring four goals and assisting four.

FC Porto forward Mouhamed Mbaye is likely to miss out with an ACL injury. The goalie is the only injury problem for Conceicao going into the Champions League quarterfinal second leg. The manager will have a full-strength squad to select from for the match.

Conceicao needs the team to make more of possession and attacking opportunities. FC Porto had chances against Chelsea in the first leg but failed to take them. Mount’s first half goal and Chilwell’s just before full-time were crushing.

Chelsea got on the scoresheet in the first leg through Mason Mount with a wonderfully taken goal. The Blues will fancy their chances of scoring, winning the second leg, and progressing to the semifinals. Chelsea have not reached the Champions League semifinals since 2013-14. In fact, this is the furthest they have been in the competition since that campaign.

Under 2.5 goals scored @10/11 - BET NOW

Chelsea exploded for four goals versus Crystal Palace but the Champions League quarterfinal second leg versus FC Porto should be far lower scoring. The Blues are strong defensively under Tuchel. They don’t score a lot of goals – except against Crystal Palace. FC Porto should keep the game low scoring as they fight to overturn Chelsea’s 2-0 lead.

Fourteen of Chelsea’s 17 games under Tuchel finished with under 2.5 goals scored. Tuesday night’s game should be their 15th game under the manager to finish with fewer than 2.5 goals tallied. Chelsea are firing on all cylinders. They could face off with Tuchel’s former team, Paris Saint-Germain, in the semifinals. They must prevent FC Porto from overturning their 2-0 lead in the second leg – which Chelsea should do.
