Championship league leaders Norwich City are on the verge of winning the division and earning automatic promotion back to the Premier League. The Canaries can achieve promotion to the Premier League with five points from the last 18 on offer or with a win at Derby County and results elsewhere going their way this weekend.

Daniel Farke’s team have rebounded from their Premier League relegation last season. In contrast, Derby County have not had a great season. The Rams are eight points above the relegation zone and are fighting for their lives in the second division. Rotherham are in 22nd place and have four games in hand over Derby County. Meanwhile, 23rd place Sheffield Wednesday have a game in hand. Wayne Rooney’s team need to obtain points with just six games to go.

Derby County are coming off of a 3-1 loss to Reading. Three of their last five games in the Championship each ended in losses. Despite their current woes, Derby County claimed a 1-0 win at Carrow Road earlier this season. Rooney, still playing for the Rams, scored the game winner in the 87th minute.

The big news on Wednesday was of a takeover at Derby County. Owner Mel Morris has agreed to sell the club to No Limit Sports, a group “fronted by Spanish businessman Erik Alonso”. No Limit Sports had previously tried to buy Sheffield Wednesday. The EFL must now approve the deal before it is made official.

Pukki is coming off of a three-goal game against Huddersfield last weekend. The striker has 25 goals in 36 matches in the Championship this season. Over 2.5 goals scored @ 1/1 - BET NOW

Three of Norwich City’s last six games in the league finished with over 2.5 goals scored. They smashed Huddersfield on matchday 40 by putting seven goals past the Terriers. It is unlikely that Saturday’s game will see a similar scoreline, but we could see more than 2.5 goals and both sides find the back of the net. Two of Derby County’s last four games in the league ended with more than 2.5 goals tallied.

Norwich City could earn promotion back to the Premier League with a win and results going their way elsewhere. Farke’s side have been excellent this term and are close to achieving their target of Premier League football. Derby County could still be sucked into the relegation zone. Rooney must find a way for the team to get points by any means.
