After an entertaining three Test series with West Indies, England now turn their attentions to the 50-over format. Chris Silverwood's one-day squad face three matches against Ireland, with the first due to take place at Southampton on July 30.

The world champions will go into the first ODI as strong favourites to start the series with a win, not surprising when you consider their recent record in the 50-over game.

Eoin Morgan's men have won 13 of their last 18 ODIs where a result has been possible, including a two-wicket win over South Africa in Johannesburg, in their last match in February.

The last time these two teams met was in Dublin in May 2019, when England ran out victors by four wickets, having bowled Ireland out for just 198.

There will be few different faces in the England team this time, but overall they look stronger with confidence still brimming after their World Cup success last year.

Ireland, meanwhile, have played three ODIs so far in 2020 and lost all three of their matches against West Indies in the Caribbean.

However, prior to that series, coach Graham Ford saw the side win four of their five one-day games across May and July 2019 - with one victory over Afghanistan and three over Zimbabwe, all on home soil.

With no Ben Stokes, following his Test exploits, England will look to others to stand up and make an impact in this series.

Two players with a point to prove could prove key to the hosts over the next couple of weeks, with Jonny Bairstow and Joe Denly keen to impress. Both have slipped out of the Test side, for now, and the ODIs offer the perfect chance to show the selectors that they should still be considered.

Moeen Ali is another back in the international fold and he could have a big impact with bat and ball against Ireland.

The visitors, meanwhile, look to be building for the future after naming two uncapped players in their squad - batsman Harry Tector and all-rounder Curtis Campher.

Their fresh look is also highlighted by the omission of the country's leading ODI wicket-taker, Mark Adair, as he continues to find full fitness following ankle surgery.

England look too strong for an inexperienced Ireland squad and the hosts will want to start strongly, in what is likely to be the only ODI action of the summer.

The hosts have won all of the last four meetings between the sides and the inexperienced look of this Ireland squad makes it difficult to see anything other than an England win.

For more value, it's better looking at the bowling and batting markets, with the likes of Bairstow and Jason Roy worth considering to get amongst the runs.

Both Roy and Bairstow have nine ODI centuries each to their names and are expected to be amongst the runs, having been desperate to get back to action following the enforced break.
