There are some intriguing Europa League matches on Thursday evening, with several ties hanging in the balance and here Aidan Perkins takes a look at which teams might progress to the last 16.

RB Leipzig v Napoli

(Thursday 6.00pm)

Napoli to win @ 4/1 BET NOW

Leipzig were surprise winners in the first leg as they finally wore the Italians down with a couple of late goals. Having taken the lead, it was thought that the Partenopei would dig in but they did not factor in the Timo Werner effect.
He is fast becoming a goal machine for Die Bullen and is a decent bet at 6/5 to score anytime during the return leg at the Red Bull Arena. It seems unlikely that Napoli will overturn the deficit to stay alive in the competition but it would be no surprise to see them win on the night as they are a talented side embroiled in a fight with Juventus for the Serie A title.

Zenit St Petersburg V Celtic Tips

(Thursday 6.00pm)

Draw @ 3/1 BET NOW

Europa League betting on the Russian side will be popular as they are strong at home but the Hoops have something to hold onto. Having failed to qualify for the knockout stage of the Champions League, manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to do well in this event and will doubtless set up his side to be hard to beat.
It is open to debate whether they can keep a clean sheet but a 1-1 draw at 6/1 might be worth considering, especially if the Celts take the lead. Callum McGregor produced the goods last time and, although never as strong away from Celtic Park, the Bhoys have the knowhow to get the job done.

Salzburg v Real Sociedad Tips

(Thursday 8.05pm)

Real Sociedad @ 2/1 BET NOW

The Europa League tips had Sociedad as favourites to make the last-16 but things did not go to plan in the first leg. Mikel Oyarzabal’s own goal and Takumi Minamino’s injury-time strike ensured that the Austrians have more than a foothold in the tie and a couple of away goals.
But surely the La Liga side will learn from their mistakes and put things right this week. They know that they need to score after the first-leg result and they are a side that knows how to score goals, with 46 from 25 games in the Spanish top-flight. Conceding goals has been their problem and both teams to score at 1/2 seems likely.

Villarreal v Lyon Tips

(Thursday 6.00pm)

Villarreal to win @ 21/20 BET NOW

The Europa League odds on Lyon winning in Spain are 14/5 but they can afford to lose 1-0 and still go through after winning 3-1 at the Groupama Stadium. I expect Villarreal to win this one but their progression will depend on keeping a clean sheet and they are 9/4 to do so.
A Lyon goal would make it extremely tough and this one could be a roller-coaster of a ride.
