Euro 2020 Group B wraps up on Monday with Finland taking on Belgium while Russia play Denmark at the same time. Group B is currently led by Belgium, who have qualified for the knockout stage of the tournament. The Belgians came from behind on matchday 2 of Group B to defeat Denmark 2-1. They have taken six points from six possible and can win the group with a point at the very least versus Finland.

Finland and Russia are both level on three points following two games. Russia defeated Finland on Thursday 1-0. Denmark still have the opportunity to progress to the knockout stage, but they must win against Russia and hope Belgium defeat Finland.

The Finnish team claimed three points from Denmark on matchday 1 of Group B courtesy of a 1-0 win. They followed it up with a solid performance versus Russia but just couldn’t score a goal to come from behind. Belgium have been the class of the group, but were second best in the first half versus Denmark. The introduction of Kevin De Bruyne in the second period completely changed Belgium’s fortunes.

Belgium surprisingly have not done well historically against Finland. They have a record of 3W-4D-4L over the course of 11 all-time meetings. Remarkably, Belgium have not won any of the last seven matches played versus Finland. Their most recent match was played in 2016 with the teams drawing 1-1.

Finland vs Belgium Betting Odds

Belgium’s defence stood up and against an inspired Denmark and held firm. They conceded 21 shots to Denmark but prevented the Danes from getting on the scoresheet in the second period. Belgium claimed 53% possession and six shots with five on target. Roberto Martinez is likely to start Kevin De Bruyne after his second half performance on Thursday. De Bruyne can get some fitness under his belt versus Finland to prepare for the knockout stage.

If Belgium win Group B, as they should do, they will play the third-place team from Group A, D, E, or F. There are a number of potential opponents Belgium could play and the last 16 may be a difficult test for the Red Devils. Leading sportsbooks have Belgium at odds of 1/3 to claim a victory over Finland. They are heavy favourites and should fulfil that tag with a victory over the Finnish national team.

The Finnish team are major underdogs heading into the fixture. They are at odds of 12/1 to win against the No. 1 ranked team in the world. Belgium are currently 13/2 to win the Euro 2020 tournament, which is the fourth-best odds after playing two matches.

Finland kept 41% of the possession against Russia and were set out to hit on the counter – which they nearly scored from multiple times. Finland collected 11 shots with just one hitting target. They need to be far more clinical against Belgium. However, even if Finland are more clinical, it may still not be enough to win.

Finland vs Belgium Team News

Belgium have qualified for the last 16 which may give Martinez the opportunity to rotate the team in preparation for the knockout stage. De Bruyne should start the game to get more fitness under his belt. He transformed Belgium in the second half against Denmark and was the catalyst to the team’s comeback.

Thorgan Hazard was brilliant for Belgium scoring the team’s first goal. He could get a rest on Monday allowing Axel Witsel or even brother, Eden Hazard, to start the game. Romelu Lukaku could get a rest as well with Michy Batshuayi or Christian Benteke coming in for him. Yannick Carrasco and Dries Mertens could also drop to the bench.

Finland will pack 11 men behind the ball and attempt to hit on the counter-attack. Midfielder Glen Kamara has been Finland’s best player in the tournament. He is now being tracked by teams and could move from Rangers for a fee of around £30 million.

Norwich City striker Teemu Pukki has played a periphery part in the team’s attack. Pukki hasn’t been able to get into the games. Meanwhile, Union Berlin Joel Pohjanpalo has been excellent for the side. He scored the team’s goal against Denmark and was their most dangerous attacker versus Russia.

Finland vs Belgium Prediction

Belgium to win to nil @ 10/11 - BET NOW

It is difficult to see Finland scoring a goal against one of the tournament’s strongest teams. Belgium kept a clean sheet win versus Russia. With Finland’s attack being the weakest in the group, Belgium should keep a win to nil. Even if Martinez rotates the team, they will be too much in defence for Finland.

Kevin De Bruyne to score anytime @ 12/5 - BET NOW

De Bruyne changed the game after being introduced on Thursday against Denmark. He should start against Finland, his first start since being injured versus Chelsea in the Champions League Final. The midfielder scored 10 goals and tallied 18 assists in 40 matches for Manchester City in 2020-21. De Bruyne has tallied 21 goals in 80 matches for Belgium.

Over 2.5 goals scored @ 19/20 - BET NOW

It is possible that the game on Monday finishes similarly to Belgium’s fixture against Russia. They absolutely rolled over Russia and could do the same to Finland on Monday. Finland will play incredibly defensive and will attempt to hit on the counter-attack.

Finland have one just once in their last seven matches. Although just two of those seven games finished with over 2.5 goals scored, Finland have not played the quality that Belgium brings to the table.

Belgium showed some cracks against Denmark. They were second best in the first half. If Belgium play like that in the knockout stages, they could be eliminated from the Euro 2020 tournament. Finland just aren’t good enough to claim a win versus Belgium. Although they are a good side, this could be the end of the line for them at the Euros. Still, Finland will hope that results elsewhere allow them to progress to the last 16.
