International breaks for friendly fixtures are rarely considered a highlight of the season, but there are a few quality matches in this latest round of games and Germany v Spain is arguably the pick of the bunch this weekend. Our tipster Gareth Freeman offers his international football tips on this heavyweight clash.

Germany v Spain

Germany to win @ 29/20 - BET NOW

World champions Germany haven’t lost a game on home soil since a surprise defeat to Slovakia in 2016 and there were a few mitigating factors that night in Augsburg. The Germans fielded an experimental line-up and there was incredibly heavy rainfall, often a great leveller, which in part explains that 3-1 loss.

Die Mannschaft won all of their World Cup 2018 qualifiers on home soil and have played out a 2-2 draw with France in a friendly since. Manager Joachim Low has named a strong squad for their two friendlies over the course of the next few days and they may well make a statement against Spain, who appear to be testing out a few options ahead of the tournament in Russia.

La Roja have three uncapped players in their squad - Marcos Alonso, Dani Parejo and Rodri - and they look a little lightweight in attack. Diego Costa is the star name among their attackers, but he has never really made a huge impact at international level. The other three forwards in the squad, Iago Aspas, Rodrigo and Lucas Vazquez, have just 13 caps and four goals between them.

Germany are unbeaten since their loss to France at Euro 2016 - a run stretching 21 games - and look good value in the international football odds to see off Spain at 29/20. The visitors are also unbeaten since that major tournament but they’ve played five less games, and the fact it looks like they’re ready to experiment over the next few days also suggests the Germans could claim a win here.

Leroy Sane to score anytime @ 7/2 - BET NOW

RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner appeals as an anytime goalscorer at 15/8 but for real value Manchester City star Leroy Sane really stands out at 7/2. The former Schalke man is yet to break his duck at international level after nine caps and it remains to be seen if Low rates him as a regular starter, but if he is handed a spot in the first XI on Friday he can make a statement with a goal.

The 22-year-old has weighed in with 12 goals for City in all competitions this season, establishing himself as a key man under Pep Guardiola, and will be eager to make his mark for his country on Friday night.

Sane looks a strong international football betting option to open the scoring at 9/1 but, as it remains unclear what line-up Low will put out for the first of the two friendly games, sticking with the safer anytime option could be the way to go in this fixture.
