Another big day of spring festival trail races comes from the stiff Navan racetrack with three grade two events on the card including the feature Ladbrokes Boyne Hurdle at 2.10. Easyodds’ Irish Correspondent Eamon Hanlon guides you through his best bets.

Navan Tips –

1.40 – Navan – This is merely a supporting race on this superb card, but if we get the anticipated rain then it will prove to be a real three mile slog and that would suit MALT GEM perfectly after he unseated last time out at Thurles when in with every chance at the third last. Davy Russell takes over from his usual amateur rider and may make a wholesale difference at the expense of Inis Meain and Annie Oakley.

BET NOW – MALT GEM (e/w)

2.10 – Navan – The big question here is can Zaidpour bounce back from his hugely below par display in the Galmoy Hurdle last time out? That afternoon he hurdled poorly all the way around and was a spent force down the back stretch for the final time.

The eight-year-old could still be the biggest danger to BOG WARRIOR, far from disgraced behind Solwhit in the World Hurdle and making his first start for a year. He is however a stayer with a good record fresh and in receipt of two pounds from Zaidpour he can return to winning form.

BET NOW – BOG WARRIOR

3.10 – Navan – Expect Bryan Cooper to make this a real test of stamina now that Bright New Dawn has been dropped in trip and try to take the sting out of Mallowney’s finish. The Des Hughes’ chaser ran a cracker in the Killiney last time out and looks the biggest danger to the value in the race MALLOWNEY. Tim Doyle’s charge was just getting into a challenging position when falling at the second last in the Arkle Chase at Leopardstown last time out and is taken to outpoint his rival over this shorter trip.

BET NOW – MALLOWNEY

3.45 – Navan – A really poor turnout for this Ten Up Novice Chase and as such it looks at the mercy of the Ted Walsh trained FOXROCK. The six-year-old was massively impressive when readily accounting for Sizing Gold at Naas last time out and this very strong stayer (could run in the four miler at Cheltenham) can gallop on relentlessly to beat off the old boy Cootamundra.

BET NOW - FOXROCK
