With summer transfer activity starting to ramp up and the new Premier League season just around the corner, just where will Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish be plying his trade come the end of the window?

Jack Grealish Transfer News

It's no secret that some of the top clubs across Europe are interested in Grealish and, as things stand, it is Manchester City who are believed to be leading the race to acquire his services.

Pep Guardiola is eager to bring the England international to the Etihad Stadium, along with Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, and the City boss is believed to have made four players available for transfer to fund these potential deals.

With the Villa captain expected to cost around £100million, it is reported that Raheem Sterling, Aymeric Laporte, Gabriel Jesus and Bernardo Silva have all been told they can leave the reigning English champions.

However, it is being claimed that Grealish is having second thoughts about a move to the Citizens, with the potential of not being guaranteed a starting spot every week of huge concern, and he could decide to stay put at his home-town club.

The Villans are desperate to keep hold of their talisman, who has been on the Villa Park books his whole career, and they are trying to convince the 25-year-old to sign a new contract.

Although Villa want to keep Grealish, it is 13/10 for the West Midlands outfit to have the skipper still on their roster come September 1, and the efforts of new contract talks could end up being in vain.

City are the 4/7 favourites to land the Englishman and, based on previous windows, the Citizens usually get what they want in the transfer market.

Paris Saint-Germain are priced at 6/5 to sign the midfielder, although there has been little to suggest Les Parisiens will make an offer, while Chelsea are available at 25/1 but a switch to Stamford Bridge seems unlikely due to the options already at Thomas Tuchel's disposal.

The impending arrival of Jadon Sancho almost certainly puts 25/1 Manchester United out of the running, while 33/1 Liverpool and 40/1 Arsenal are not willing to shell out £100m on one player.

Barcelona and Real Madrid haven't really been mentioned in the pursuit of the playmaker, so it's no surprise to see them both at 40/1 in this market, while Tottenham Hotspur, who failed with a £25m bid for Grealish on deadline day three years ago, are 50/1 to now lure the Villa star to North London.

Jack Grealish Stats

It's not hard to see why Grealish is being touted for a move to the Premier League champions, you just have to look at his stats for the time he has been in the English top flight.

From his 96 PL appearances, the Villa captain has scored 15 goals and registered 16 assists. He was fourth on the assist chart last season, notching 10, while he netted six times to end as his club's third top-scorer.

Grealish was also the most fouled player in the division last term, receiving 110 free-kicks to sit 22 ahead of Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha, and it is this ability to draw the tackle and either release pressure or earn free-kicks in dangerous areas that is also of big value.

The Englishman is comfortable receiving the ball in pressure situations and he loves to take players on and make things happen. Look at the impact he made when coming off the bench - and when he started - for England at this summer's Euros for evidence of that. Also, his desire to feature in the biggest games is something Guardiola looks for in a player.

Villa fans may disagree but a big-money move to City could well be beneficial for all parties.
