Liverpool visit Elland Road on Monday in need of all three points against Leeds United. The Reds were eliminated from the Champions League in midweek by Real Madrid 3-1 on aggregate. Now, Jurgen Klopp’s team have only one way of getting into next season’s Champions League and that is by league position. Liverpool go into matchday 32 three points behind fourth-place West Ham. They can move into fifth place with a victory over Leeds United as Chelsea’s attention will be on the FA Cup.

Leeds United are 10th in the Premier League standings. Marcelo Bielsa’s team are in form and unbeaten in four straight games. Their last three matches in the Premier League all ended in victories. Last weekend saw the Whites outplay Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. Leeds United claimed a 2-1 win and played half the match with 10 players.

Leeds United and Liverpool put on a show at Anfield to kick off the Premier League campaign in September. Liverpool squeezed past the Whites with a 4-3 win. The teams traded goals until the 88th minute when Mohamed Salah’s second penalty gave the Reds the win. Leeds United didn’t back down during the match. Their never say die attitude has been their calling card in the league this season.

Although Liverpool have struggled for much of the season, they are on a three-match winning streak. Now, with their Champions League campaign over, their focus will be on finishing in the top four. It is very competitive at the top of the table.

Leeds United vs Liverpool Betting Odds

Leeds United took 10 points from their last 18 on offer in the league. Goals have been a struggle for the Whites. Only six were scored over the course of those last six games. Meanwhile, they conceded just six times. Bielsa’s team are on a three-game winning streak with victories over Fulham, Sheffield United, and Manchester City.

Liverpool took 12 points from their last 18 available. They too are on a three-match winning streak. The Reds won versus Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Wolverhampton Wanderers to reignite hopes of making the top four. Liverpool’s form have them as bookies’ favourite for the game at odds of 5/7.

The Reds have won three straight away matches in the league and five of their last six road games. Despite the team’s defence being continually criticised, Liverpool did not concede a goal in any of those three road victories.

Leeds United are at odds of 19/5 to win at full-time against Liverpool at Elland Road. The Whites are unbeaten in their last two home fixtures. Overall, Leeds United have taken 21 points from 45 available at Elland Road in 2020-21. Leeds United’s biggest issue this season has been defence. They have allowed 49 goals, the league’s sixth most. If Bielsa can sort out the defence in the offseason, Leeds United could challenge for Europe next term.

Leeds United vs Liverpool Team News

Bielsa could be without up to four players this weekend due to injuries and suspension. Liam Cooper is ruled out until may due to a suspension. Adam Forshaw is in line to return but will take a fitness test before being cleared. Ralphina has a thigh injury and nearing a return to the side. He is expected to take a fitness test before the match and could play.

Rodrigo Moreno is a doubt due to an unexplained issue. Meanwhile, Bielsa will have rising star Jack Harrison back in the team. The on-loan Manchester City man wasn’t able to play against his parent club last term. Harrison scored Leeds United’s opener against Liverpool earlier this season.

Long-term injuries and out of form players have plagued Klopp this season. Although Liverpool were eliminated from the Champions League on Wednesday night, they had enough chances to overturn the tie and heavily defeat Real Madrid. James Milner, Mohamed Salah, Robert Firmino, and Sadio Mane all had near misses in the game that should have been put away.

Klopp will be without the likes of Jordan Henderson, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, Divock Origi, and Caoimhin Kelleher. Curtis Jones is a doubt to play due to a muscle issue. Klopp is likely to call upon Thiago Alcantara in midfield along with Georginio Wijnaldum. Fabinho will be the pivot while Ozan Kabak and Nat Phillips return to centre-back.

Leeds United vs Liverpool Prediction

Both teams to score: YES @ 4/7 - BET NOW

The two clubs played out a seven-goal thriller at Anfield earlier this season. In spite of Liverpool’s good recent away goal record – three straight wins to nil – they could concede goals to Leeds United. Monday night’s game won’t replicate the seven goals of the previous match, but we should see both teams score in a good game.

Mohamed Salah to score anytime @ 4/6 - BET NOW

All Mohamed Salah does is score goals. Yes, he goes missing in games, struggles to make passes, and losses the ball frequently, but he scores goals. Salah has 19 goals this season which is the joint-best alongside Harry Kane. He scored in each of his last two league matches and bagged a hat-trick against Leeds United in September.

Over 2.5 goals scored @ 14/25 - BET NOW

Liverpool’s last two matches in the league ended with over 2.5 goals scored. The Reds have tallied 53 goals this season and average 1.7 in the Premier League per game. Leeds United have bagged 49 goals in 31 games for an average of 1.6 goals a match. If their defence was stronger (49 goals conceded) Leeds United would be fighting for a place in Europe.

Leeds United’s last three games all ended in wins and identical 2-1 scorelines. The Whites were good in each of those games. Just like on matchday 1, Leeds United should push Liverpool to their limit. It isn’t likely to see seven goals again, but it should be an entertaining fixture for neutrals. Liverpool need the points far more than Leeds United. But they may struggle to get all three.
