Who are the favourites?
Man Utd have put just four point on the board from their last four fixtures and are coming into this match off the back of a very disappointing 2-1 defeat at Huddersfield.
However, the bookmakers are confident that The Red Devils can bounce back here, making them a best price 3/10 to defeat Newcastle, making them the heavy odds on favourites.
Newcastle were on course for a very surprising season until a recent run has seen them stutter to a run of one win in six games. Rafa Benitez's side have struggled on the road in particular winning just one in five and scoring three goals in the process. They have also only won one of their last 34 fixtures at Old Trafford against Man Utd! Thanks to all of this, they are a best price of 12/1 to win this one.
What’s your recommended bet?
My recommended Man Utd v Newcastle tip is to back ‘Man Utd/Man Utd’ at best odds of 10/11 using our Easyodds odds comparison grid.
Newcastle have a dreadful record in this fixture, having picked up just one win in their last 34 games against Man Utd at Old Trafford. Newcastle play a very defensive way away from home and thanks to that they have conceded just five goals on the road in five games, but for me with Jose Mourinho under pressure for his lack of attacking football, I think Man Utd will come out of the blocks in this one and take an early lead and then go on to win the game.
The Red Devils have won each of their eight home games this season and five of those they have been winning at half-time. So the odds of 10/11 on Man Utd to be winning at both half-time and full-time appeal to me.
