Napoli host Udinese on Tuesday night seeking to solidify their place in the Serie A table. Gennaro Gattuso’s team moved into the top four over the weekend thanks to a 4-1 win against Spezia. Their victory and Juventus’s 3-0 defeat to AC Milan saw them move into the top four. Napoli are now one point ahead of fifth-place Juventus and six points above sixth-place Lazio – who have a game in hand.

Udinese are down the Serie A standings in 11th place. They have taken 40 points from 35 matches in Serie A and are on a two-match winless streak. The Zebrette drew 1-1 against Bologna at the weekend. Udinese have not defeated Napoli since the 2015-16 Serie A season. Since that victory, Napoli are unbeaten in 10 straight matches in all competitions. Nine of those matches ended in wins for the Partenopei while one game finished in a draw.

Napoli went to the Stadio Friuli earlier this season and claimed a 2-1 win. Lorenzo Insigne scored a 15th-minute penalty which was cancelled out on 27 minutes by Kevin Lasagna. Napoli won the game at the death as midfielder Tiemoue Bakayako scored in the 90th minute.

Striker Victor Osimhen has had a stop-start season since arriving at Napoli last offseason. He bagged two goals against Spezia at the weekend. The player’s agent claims Osimhen is a “huge player” now. Gattuso will hope Osimhen can get back amongst the goals on Tuesday night to help Napoli solidify their place in the Serie A top four.

Napoli vs Udinese Betting Odds

Napoli are in excellent form heading into the midweek clash. They took 14 points from the last 18 on offer in Serie A and outscored opponents 15-5. Leading sportsbooks have Napoli at odds of 1/3 to win at full-time at home against Udinese. The Partenopei have been excellent at home this season with 36 points from 51 possible. Napoli have allowed just 18 goals to opponents at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Udinese have blown hot and cold over the last two months. They took just seven points from the last 18 points available. Goals have been difficult to come by. Just eight goals were scored over the course of those six matches while allowing six. Prior to their 1-1 draw against Bologna last weekend, Udinese had lost 2-1 to Juventus.

Leading sportsbooks have Udinese at odds of 10/1 to defeat Napoli for the first time since the 2015-16 campaign. The Zebrette have been good on the road this season. They have taken 21 points from 51 available on the road. Their last two matches away from the Stadio Friuli both ended in wins. Those victories came against two of Serie A’s lesser sides, Crotone and Benevento.

Six of the last 10 matches between Napoli and Udinese finished with both teams scoring goals. Seven of those same 10 fixtures ended with over 2.5 goals tallied. The last time these sides drew in Serie A was the 2019-20 season in Udine. The clubs are at odds of 9/2 to draw at full-time.

Napoli vs Udinese Team News

Napoli first-choice goalkeeper David Ospina is back from an injury and could return to the starting XI this week against Udinese. Gattuso has a selection headache over the goalie position, however. Alex Meret has played well in Ospina’s absence.

Centre-backs Kalidou Koulibaly and Nikola Maksimovic were ruled out of action at the weekend against Spezia. Both defenders are doubts to return to the team for Tuesday's game. Kostas Manolas and Amir Rrahmani could form the team’s central defensive pairing. Osimhen could start against Udinese after his two-goal performance at the weekend against Spezia.

Udinese’s young forward Jayden Braaf joined the list of attacking absentees last week. He suffered a knee sprain and is out until the end of the month. The Dutch attacker joins Ignacio Pussetto, Gerard Deulofeu and Ilija Nestorovski on the injury. All four are likely to miss the final three games of the Serie A season.

Fernando Forestieri could start in attack. Coach Luca Gotti could start either Stefano Okaka or Fernando Llorente. Gotti prefers to play with a lone striker and will use just one of the three from the start.

Osimhen’s first season at Napoli has been hit and miss. He has had injuries, COVID-19 and other issues keeping him out of the side. The former Lille forward has 10 goals in 21 games for Napoli in Serie A. He averages a goal every 133 minutes in Serie A for the Partenopei. Over 2.5 goals scored @ 4/6 - BET NOW

Nine of the last 13 matches between Napoli and Udinese in all competitions finished with over 2.5 goals scored. The sides have had no issue scoring goals against each other. Their match played earlier this season at the Stadio Friuli finished 2-1.

Two of Napoli’s last four Serie A games finished with over 2.5 goals. Three of Udinese’s last five games in Serie A finished with more than 2.5 goals scored. We expect there to be goals between the two teams. Gattuso’s team could move into second place with a win for at least 24 hours.

Most importantly, they would move four points ahead of fifth-place Juventus ahead of the Bianconeri’s match on Wednesday versus Sassuolo. Can Napoli continue their unbeaten run against Udinese?
