Newcastle and Southampton are not safe from relegation danger. However, both clubs are moving in the right direction. Newcastle defeated Leicester City away, 1-0, at the weekend with an impressive performance. Ayoze Perez's first-half goal held up as Newcastle resisted Leicester City's attack.
Southampton gained victory courtesy of a 3-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at St. Mary's. Nathan Redmond scored twice in the first half before Shane Long's 71st-minute effort sealed the victory for the Saints.
Newcastle and Southampton played out a dull nil-nil draw earlier this season. Neither side was in good form when they met, which is in somewhat of a contrast to now. Newcastle are undefeated in three of their last five matches while Southampton have won four of their last five games.
The Magpies have collected 22 of their 38 points at St. James' Park this season. Although they lost their most recent home fixture to Crystal Palace, Newcastle had reeled off five straight wins.
Southampton have gained 15 of 36 points on the road but did defeat Brighton in their last away fixture.
Newcastle go into the match at 31/20. Southampton go into the fixture at odds of 11/5.

Southampton's Yan Valery has been listed as a slight doubt due to cramping issues. The problem shouldn't keep him out of Saturday's game, however. Manager Ralph Hassenhuttl will still be without injured duo Michael Obafemi and Mario Lemina. No return date has been set for the pair.
Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez doesn't have any new injury issues ahead of the fixture. Newcastle are still missing long-term absentees Florian Lejeune and Sean Longstaff. Benitez will hope striker Salomon Rondon can get back to scoring as he leads Newcastle with nine goals this season.
Over 2.5 goals scored @ 13/10 - BET NOW
Prior to the teams' dismal nil-nil draw in October, Newcastle and Southampton had been free-scoring against one another. In the seven games they played prior to this season, Newcastle and Southampton had combined for over 2.5 goals scored in each game. Although both are not out of the woods as yet, they should attack with more impetus on Saturday.
Both teams to score @ 19/20 - BET NOW
Although these sides have produced several clean sheets when playing one another, this weekend's game should see goals. Southampton's attack has improved as the season has gone on and last weekend, they put three goals past a solid Wolverhampton Wanderers defence. Newcastle have been outscored 6-9 in their last six games.
Nathan Redmond to score anytime @ 4/1 - BET NOW
Redmond is in fine form having scored twice against Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend. The winger is a highly underrated player and would improve the top teams if signed. Redmond may only have five goals and three assists this term, but that is more of a reflection on Southampton's previous manager Mark Hughes than the player.
Saturday's game at St. James' Park should be far more enjoyable to watch from a neutral perspective than their previous encounter. Goals should find the back of the net as the two clubs take off the reins.
