Everton have hit a bump in the road. The Toffees took 12 points from their first four games. However, over their last two games, they have taken just one point. On matchday 6, Everton lost 2-0 against Southampton away. Carlo Ancelotti’s team are still at the top of the league table, but Liverpool pulled level and could overtake the Toffees this weekend if more points are dropped.

Newcastle United claimed a dramatic point late against Wolverhampton Wanderers on matchday 6. The Magpies are winless in their last two league games. Last season, Everton took four points from six possible versus Newcastle United. The Toffees won away at St. James’ Park and claimed a score draw at Goodison Park.

Sunday’s game will come over 12 hours after Liverpool play on Saturday against West Ham. Although the Reds have their own issues with injuries and fitness, a win or draw at Anfield will put pressure on Ancelotti’s team. The pressure of keeping pace with Liverpool, or any team in the top four, could ultimately be Everton’s undoing.

Can Everton get back to winning ways or will Newcastle United get their own win on Sunday at home?
