Rotherham have an unenviable week in the Championship as they will play three times in the space of six days. The Millers have three or four games in hand over their rivals in the relegation race due to postponed matches from earlier in the campaign. On Wednesday night, Rotherham host Queens Park Rangers at the New York Stadium with three massive points at stake. Manager Paul Warne’s team are 22nd going into the game but could inch closer to 21st-place Coventry City with a win.

On Thursday night, Rotherham will play their second game in six days. It will be a six-point game versus Coventry City. If the Millers can defeat Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday, they will be just three points back of Coventry City in the table.

Queens Park Rangers are 11th in the table. Manager Mark Warburton has again led the team to safety in the Championship and a respectable 56 points after 40 games. Unfortunately, Queens Park Rangers are off the pace for the playoff places. They have nothing to play for in the remaining six games of the campaign. The Hoops can play the part of spoiler, however. Queens Park Rangers are unbeaten in four of their last six games. They claimed a 4-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend.

Rotherham are winless in three straight games. After back-to-back losses, they managed a nil-nil draw at home versus Huddersfield at the weekend. Can Warne’s team get a vital win in the Championship survival race?

Rotherham vs Queens Park Rangers Odds

Rotherham took seven points from the last 18 on offer to them in the league. They scored a mere five goals during that time, however. Opponents scored nine times over the course of those six matches. Warne’s team are at odds of 17/10 to claim a win on Tuesday night versus Queens Park Rangers. The Millers have the Championship’s worst home points total with 15 from 18 games. They are on a four-game losing streak at home.

Queens Park Rangers took 10 points from the last 18 on offer. The Hoops have improved in the second half of the season. If they would have played this well throughout the campaign, they would have likely qualified for the promotion playoffs. The Hoops are at odds of 5/3 to win against Rotherham away from home on Tuesday night.

The Londoners have not been good on the road this season. They have taken 22 points from 19 games. They are –5 in goal difference with 24 goals allowed and 19 scored. The Hoops are winless in back-to-back away matches.

Since December 29, Queens Park Rangers have gone unbeaten in 14 of 19 games in the Championship. On matchday 22, the Hoops were 19th and in the relegation zone. They are now 11th in the division. The January loan signings of Charlie Austin, Jordy de Wijs, Stefan Johansen, and Sam Field were big boosts to the team.

Rotherham vs Queens Park Rangers Team News

Queens Park Rangers’ Swiss-born, Senegalese goalkeeper Seny Dieng is attracting attention from the Premier League. West Ham and Arsenal are both linked to the shot-stopper with a price tag of £6 million quoted. Dieng will surely be in goal for the midweek game having appeared in 37 league matches thus far.

Austin is one player that will not play for Warburton. The on-loan West Brom striker is suspended following a red card. Austin has six goals in 17 appearances for the club since arriving in January. Charlie Owens could return to the team following a knee injury. Tom Carroll is also nearing a return but may not be fully fit to take part. Meanwhile, Luke Amos is ruled out for the rest of the season. Striker Lyndon Dykes has scored three goals in his last two matches for Queens Park Rangers.

Warne has just one player on the Rotherham injury list for the midweek fixture. Defender Joe Mattock could miss the game following an ankle injury. Forward Michael Smith has nine goals and three assists in 35 appearances this season. Forward Freddie Ladapo has added seven goals for the Millers.

This is crunch time for Rotherham in the Championship. They need to make the most of their games in hand to rescue their campaign. If they cannot, they will be relegated back to League One after spending just one campaign in the Championship.
