Fulham were relegated on Monday night back to the Championship courtesy of a 2-0 loss at home to Burnley. Now, with three matches left this season, the Cottagers have nothing left to play for. There is no pressure on the side which could help them achieve results. On Saturday, Fulham visit St. Mary’s Stadium to play Southampton, who are also safe from relegation. The Saints picked up a 3-1 win against Crystal Palace in midweek to end a four-match winless run.

Southampton are 14th in the Premier League with 40 points from 35 matches this term. Since the second half of the season started, Southampton have sunk down the table to their current position. At one point, Southampton overachieved and were in the European qualification places. However, they have slid down the table into a position that reflects their quality. The Saints have an expected points figure of 39.76.

Fulham have greatly underachieved in terms of their expected points total. They have an expected points figure of 39.82 compared to an actual total of 27. Fulham took a point off of Southampton at Craven Cottage. The game finished nil-nil and was a bit of a bore. Fulham tallied 10 shots with one on target while Southampton registered three shots with two hitting the target.

Will we see a winner on Saturday between Southampton and Fulham? Or will the fixture end in another stalemate like their December match?

Fulham are propping up the current Premier League form table. They took a mere one point from the last 18 on offer. Their last two games in the league finished as losses. Fulham scored just three goals during the last six matches while conceding 11 times.

Sportsbooks have Scott Parker’s team at odds of 29/10 to win away at St. Mary’s Stadium. Fulham have not won at St. Mary’s Stadium in the last 20 years. Their last seven trips to the south coast to play Southampton in all competitions ended without a victory.

The teams drew nil-nil at Craven Cottage in December. The teams are at odds of 11/4 to draw once more. Fulham have drawn the league’s second-most games this season with 12 draws.
