Tottenham vs Liverpool Betting Tips
Tottenham Hotspur host Liverpool on Thursday night in a huge top-five match in the Premier League. The reigning Premier League champions have not won any of their last five league games, losing two and drawing three. Liverpool are also coming off of a weekend FA Cup fourth round 3-2 loss to Manchester United. Although Liverpool scored twice, the attack continued to struggle.
Tottenham Hotspur are in fifth place and unbeaten in four straight matches in the league. Jose Mourinho’s team are coming off of a Monday night FA Cup fourth round 4-1 win versus Wycombe Wanderers. They will now face off with Everton in the fifth round.
Spurs fell at Anfield in December thanks to a late goal, losing 2-1 in a thriller. At the time, the clubs were at the top of the table. Now, they are both just trying to finish in the top four. Liverpool are six points off of first-place Manchester United. Spurs are seven points off of Manchester United going into matchday 20. Both Spurs and Liverpool will face off with Manchester United for a second time later this season.
A loss for either team will certainly rule them out of winning the Premier League title. As it stands, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are both still in the running for the title. Which team will still be in the running for the title after the 90-minute fixture this week?
Tottenham vs Liverpool Betting Odds
Liverpool have won five straight matches versus Tottenham Hotspur in all competitions. The Reds winning streak against Spurs dates back to the 2018-19 Premier League season. Spurs will hope their home form helps them gain an advantage over Liverpool. Tottenham Hotspur have taken 15 points from 27 possible. Liverpool’s away form this season has been abysmal. The reigning champions have won just two of nine matches on the road with five ending in draws and two losses. Although they are unbeaten in five of their last six matches on the road, just one of those five matches finished in a win. Their last road fixture against Southampton ended in a loss thanks to a wonder goal from ex-Red Danny Ings.
Liverpool are at odds of 5/4 to win away at Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night. Mourinho will park the bus just as he did in December and attempt to hit Liverpool on the counter attack.
Tottenham vs Liverpool Team News
The fun is gone from Liverpool’s game. Goals are not flowing like they once did from the Reds. Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah are very much off form. Coincidently, many of the scoring issues of recent have come with Thiago Alcantara in the team. Salah did score twice against Manchester United in the FA Cup fourth round courtesy of Firmino assists.
Jurgen Klopp could be without captain Jordan Henderson due to a lingering muscle injury. He has missed the Reds’ last two matches in all competitions and his absence has been felt. Joel Matip was held out of the FA Cup match, but appears fit. He could start with Fabinho at the back. Teenager Rhys Williams started at centre-back against Manchester United and struggled. Naby Keita and Diogo Jota are both ruled out.
Spurs’ most in-form player going into the midweek fixture is arguably Tanguy Ndombele. The Frenchman scored twice against Wycombe Wanderers in the FA Cup fourth round to continue his excellent play. He has certainly rebounded from last season.
Gareth Bale has been considered a transfer flop but did get a goal against Wycombe Wanderers in the cup. He is likely to be on the bench for the match and could come on as a sub. Mourinho could be without Dele Alli, Giovani Lo Celso and Matt Doherty due to their respective injuries.

Nine of the last 12 matches between these teams finished with both teams finding the back of the net. Mourinho will most likely park the bus just as he did at Anfield, at least for the first half. Spurs were dangerous on the counter and in the second half at Anfield, took the game to Liverpool, looking like a completely different team. Four of Tottenham Hotspur’s last six league games ended with both teams scoring. They are conceding goals currently.

Thursday night’s match is a must-win for both sides. If either club want to win the league this season, they must get maximum points on Thursday night. Manchester City, Leicester City, and Manchester United all sit above Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. Each of those teams play on Tuesday and Wednesday nights – while Spurs and Liverpool meet on Thursday.
Seven of the last 10 matches in all competitions between these clubs finished with over 2.5 goals scored. Both sides will go for the win just as they did at Anfield back in December.
