WOW! This is some team.

It’s my best-of-the Premier League 2021-22 so far and it’s an absolute cracker.

These are the players who have shone in the first half of the season and I’ve brought them together for a Vinnie Jones XI - managed by Pep Guardiola. Could there be anyone else?

He’s reinvented Man City again and they are storming to the title, make no mistake.

City’s football under Pep has always been exquisite and the class of player always next level. However, he’s had to change his style again to make the most of what he’s got - and he’s done it. The geezer is a footballing genius. Full stop.

Vinnie Jones’ Premier League Team of the Season So Far

So to the team.

In goal it just has Aaron Ramsdale of Arsenal. He had a lot to prove at the top level when he arrived from Sheffield United, even though he’d been Player of the Year at the Blades, but has silenced the doubters and has sparkled for the Gunners. What a shot-stopper.

Unsurprisingly Man City feature a lot in my team, and Kevin De Bruyne could be in any best XI, but Joao Cancelo and Ruben Dias have just been outstanding for the champions. They carry a goal threat, but have just incredible ball players and are in the top bracket for completed passes.

I’m putting them together in my back four with two from Chelsea. Thiago Silva has been sensational for Chelsea, bringing class and composure to the back line for the Blues - the perfect foil for the rampaging and lively Antonio Rudiger.

In fact Rudi is unlucky to miss out at centre-back, with another Chelsea boy Reece James in at right back. He might be injured now, but what a player. He’s going right to the top for Chelsea and England - if he’s not already there! Unreal.

And the same comment applies to Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool. An awesome talent  who, like Reece, is equally effective in midfield - so I’m having both Trent and Reece - b*llocks to you! Pace, power and amazing ball-strikers - both.

And if Gareth Southgate is reading this - and I assume he is - then how about this midfield trio, boss?

Trent with Declan Rice and Conor Gallagher. Rice is here, there and everywhere for the Hammers and is getting better all the time, while Gallagher has just been a revelation on loan at Palace and you have to credit Patrick Vieira for his progress.

Up top, Mohamed Salah and Bernardo Silva pick themselves. Surely the two best players in the Premier League just now - maybe the world! Wonderful to watch, unplayable at times, and a nightmare for any defence, whatever the level.

Now listen up Watford fans. This team might be full of Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool players - with a smattering of West Ham, Arsenal and Palace - but Emmanuel Dennis for the Hornets gets in my Premier League team so far.

He’s been great, scoring eight goals in 17 starts, goals which have been massively important for the team in a sometimes difficult season. He’s 24 and still not at his peak by a long way - but I’m loving what I’ve seen so far. Kick on lad.

So look at this team . . .

Vinnie Jones Premier League Team of the season thus far

Cameron Smith. You f*cking beauty.

Easyodds fans, I wished you Happy New Year last week and hoped for a better year than last - so what a start given we tipped up the Aussie to win the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Hawaii on Sunday. Get in!

To beat the world number one Big John Rahm was something special in what became a head to head. Cam held his nerve and sealed the deal on the last. What a boy - and well played to Justin Thomas, too. Last after the first round, he finished fifth!

The PGA Golf season stays in Hawaii for the Sony Open this weekend and Vinnie’s Three Off The Tee are Billy Horschel, Corey Connors and, you’ve guessed it, my boy Cameron Smith for a quickfire double.

That’s it for this week. Enjoy the midweek Carabao Cup semis - Chelsea and Liverpool for me! - and make sure you check out my Premier League predictions below. It’s a superb weekend spiced by Manchester City against Chelsea and the North London Derby.

I’ll see you next week.

All the best,
