West Brom are nine points from safety with 13 league games left on the calendar. Sam Allardyce’s team have picked up back-to-back draws but need to do much better to avoid relegation back to the Championship. On Saturday, West Brom welcome Brighton to the Hawthorns in a six-point affair at the bottom of the table. Graham Potter’s side continue to improve but are just 12 points above the Baggies in the race for Premier League survival.

Brighton suffered a 2-1 loss at home to Crystal Palace last weekend, ending a tremendous run of form. The Seagulls had gone six league games without a loss before the defeat to Crystal Palace. Potter’s team have been good since the turn of the year. However, there is fear that Brighton could capitulate following that loss to Crystal Palace. Winning at West Brom this weekend could almost guarantee the team Premier League football in 2021-22.

West Brom claimed a 1-1 draw at Brighton earlier this season thanks to a goal from Karlan Grant in the 83rd minute. The goal salvaged the result after Jake Livermore’s own goal in the first half gave Brighton the lead. West Brom were able to limit Brighton’s goal scoring chances and will hope to do it again.

The Baggies are chasing an out of form Newcastle United in the standings. A win at home to Brighton could pull them closer to survival.

West Brom vs Brighton Betting Odds

West Brom go into the match as underdogs according to leading sportsbooks. The Baggies are at odds of 16/5 to win against Brighton. Allardyce watched his side take a mere three points from the last 18 available. The Baggies were outscored 12-4 during that six-game span by opponents.

Brighton head into the fixture at odds of 1/1 to win at full-time and move three points further away from West Brom. Nine points were taken from Brighton’s last 18 available. Incredibly, Brighton scored just four goals over the course of their last six games. They allowed a mere three to opponents, however.

Despite the praise Potter has received since arriving at the Amex Stadium, Brighton do not score a lot of goals and are not the flowing offensive side they are made out to be. In recent weeks, striker Neal Maupay has been blamed for Brighton’s goalscoring issues. The problems go far deeper than Maupay’s lack of scoring, however.

The teams are at odds of 42/17 to finish Saturday’s match in a draw. They played out a 1-1 stalemate at the Amex in the reverse fixture. Brighton have drawn the most games in the Premier League this season with 11 of their 25 games being stalemates. West Brom have the Premier League’s third-most draws with eight.

West Brom vs Brighton Team News

Potter received a major injury boost this week with news that full-back Tariq Lamptey will make the trip to the Hawthorns. The full-back has been out of action for some time due to a leg muscle injury. Lamptey returned to training this week. Adam Webster could also make a return from injury this week. He has an ankle issue but it is hoped Webster can play versus the Baggies.

The news isn’t quite as good for Solly March. He has a knee injury that will keep him out of the upcoming games for Brighton. No return date has been given for his return to the team. Florin Andone is also ruled out of the match this weekend. He is suffering from a knee issue.

Allardyce is waiting on fitness report surrounding Robert Snodgrass. The ex-West Ham man has a knee injury but could be back in the team for the weekend. The manager won’t have the duo of Semi Ajayi or Kieran Gibbs. They are both ruled out. Ajayi will serve a suspension due to a red card sending off. Gibbs is once again injured.

Matheus Pereira leads West Brom in goals this season with five along with three assists. The forward has been involved in 42% of all West Brom goals. The forward has not scored a goal in his last four appearances for the Baggies. In each of the last two games Pereira has scored, the team have got a result.

West Brom vs Brighton Prediction

Both teams to score: YES @ 19/20 - BET NOW

Both teams found the back of the net when these sides met earlier this season. They should once again get on the scoresheet. Brighton are not as good as may be assumed from their better league position and points total. They are benefitting from Fulham, West Brom, and Sheffield United being utterly terrible. West Brom have drawn three of their last five games in the league with two straight ending in stalemates.

Matheus Pereira to score anytime @4/1 - BET NOW

West Brom need the 24-year-old to step up to the plate and score goals this weekend. Pereira is West Brom’s best attacking player and has shown that in spurts this campaign. Pereira has five goals but hasn’t scored in his last four matches. Brighton have conceded 32 times this campaign including one goal to West Brom when they met in the reverse fixture. Don’t expect West Brom to go down without a fight against a six-point opponent.

Under 2.5 goals scored @ 8/11 - BET NOW

Neither side score a lot of goals. The Baggies have scored the Premier League’s third-fewest goals with 19. Brighton have tallied 26, the fifth-fewest in the division. Saturday’s game won’t be an attacking masterclass by either side. It will be a close, cagey fixture with both sides trying to get on the scoresheet.

Brighton have tallied the most league draws with 11 from 25 games. West Brom have snatched eight draws from 25 fixtures. These sides are destined to draw once more when they meet this weekend at the Hawthorns in a close fixture. Brighton scored just four times in their last six games and finding the back of the net should remain elusive.
