West Ham are three points back of fourth-place Chelsea, but could make up the distance this weekend. The Hammers host Everton on Sunday, nearly 24 hours after Chelsea play Manchester City. A Chelsea loss and West Ham win would take David Moyes’ team level on points. The Hammers would still be fifth, however, due to goal difference unless a major swing occurs.

Everton are eighth in the Premier League and just six points off of West Ham. The Toffees have been poor for large parts of the season and blown extremely hot and cold. Yet, Carlo Ancelotti’s team can still qualify for the Europa League or Europa Conference League for next season.

Sunday’s match-up between West Ham and Everton will be the third between them this season. West Ham won the reverse league fixture 1-0 at Goodison Park but fell in the Carabao Cup to Everton by a 4-1 scoreline. West Ham have won just once in their last five games in all competitions against Everton. Of course, that victory came earlier this season. Tomas Soucek’s 86th-minute goal gave West Ham the win when the teams played in January.

West Ham are coming off of a 2-1 win at Burnley on matchday 34. The victory ended a two-game losing streak. Everton lost 2-1 to Aston Villa last weekend to end a four-match unbeaten run in the league.

West Ham vs Everton Betting Odds

Everton go to the London Stadium in poor form. They took just six points from the last 18 on offer in the league. They allowed seven goals to opponents while scoring a mere six times. Although Everton are unbeaten in four of their last six games, three of those matches finished as draws. Everton are at odds of 12/5 to win away from home this weekend and improve their chances of qualifying for the Europa League or Europa Conference League.

The Toffees have been good away from home this season. They have claimed 33 points from 48 possible which is the Premier League’s fourth-best tally. Ancelotti’s team have outscored opponents on the road by a score of 22-15. While Everton have taken 33 points on the road, they have accumulated just 19 at Goodison Park.

West Ham are the Premier League’s second-best home team in terms of points this season. That isn’t a claim many would have expected at the beginning of the season. They have taken 31 points from 52 on offer. Leading sportsbooks have West Ham at odds of 13/10 to claim a 10th home win of the season. The Hammers have not won at home against Everton since the 2017-18 season. They have failed to win two straight home matches versus the Merseysiders.

Everton’s last trip to the London Stadium finished in a 1-1 draw. The teams are at odds of 12/5 to finish in a stalemate on Sunday.

West Ham vs Everton Team News

Moyes has four names on the West Ham injury list going into the game this weekend. Defenders Arthur Masuaku and Angelo Ogbonna are both ruled out through injury. Masuaku is suffering from a knee injury while Ogbonna has a thigh issue.

Midfielder Mark Noble has a calf strain and is currently listed as a doubt. Meanwhile, midfielder Declan Rice is ruled out of the game with a knee injury. There is no return date for Rice currently. Jesse Lingard remains in great form for West Ham. He was nominated for Premier League Player of the Month once again for April. Lingard has not scored in his last two games for the Hammers. Prior to his barren run, he scored in five straight games for the Hammers.

Ancelotti has three players on the team’s injury list going into the weekend. Midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure is ruled out with an ankle injury. Doucoure returned to training this week for Everton. It is unlikely he could make the team and be passed fit with such a short time back in training.

Jean-Philippe Gbamin is a long-term absentee and is still ruled out. Reports claim Gbamin could be back before the end of the campaign. Midfielder James Rodriguez is a doubt as well. He has a “tight calf muscle”. It was reported this week that Everton are in the market for two players in the offseason. Midfielder Sander Berge is one of those players as he is likely to leave Sheffield United in the summer. The other is James Carragher, the son of former Liverpool man Jamie Carragher. The defender currently plays a Wigan.
