France and Denmark are the favourites to qualify from Group C at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, with Peru and Australia looking to cause a shock and upset the odds. Ross Casey looks at all four teams in the World Cup betting markets.
France to win the group @ 3/10 – BET NOW
After losing the EURO 2016 final to a lacklustre Portugal side, many expected Didier Deschamps to leave his role as France manager, but he is still in charge despite a less than impressive qualification campaign.
Les Bleus drew their opening game in Belarus, while they were also held by Luxembourg and lost in Sweden. Despite those setbacks, they topped their group and are fully expected to do the same in group C here with best World Cup odds of 3/10.
In fact, they have been made fourth favourites in the outright winner market with 13/2 their best price available.
Christian Eriksen top Denmark goalscorer @ 13/10 – BET NOW
The reliance on Christian Eriksen for Denmark is pretty vast with the Dane top scoring in qualifying with eight goals during the group stages - double the number scored by Thomas Delaney and four times more than both strikers Andreas Cornelius and Nicola Jorgenson.
Denmark’s inability to find a decent forward and the unfortunate injury to Nicolas Bendtner means that in my eyes, Eriksen is again the most likely to find the net for De Rod-Hvide.
With rumours already circling about interest in him from Barcelona this summer, he will be desperate to have a good showing at the World Cup and his hat-trick in the second leg play-off against the Republic of Ireland was proof of his ability on the big stage.
Back the Tottenham man to top score for Denmark in the 2018 World Cup outright betting markets.
Peru to qualify from group C @ 2/1 – BET NOW
Before heading off to Europe for the 2018 World Cup, Peru showed absolutely brilliant consistency to remain unbeaten in 11 games with their only defeat in that sequence coming at the hands of Brazil. This is a Peru side that knocked out the likes of Chile and are a tough side to defeat.
Argentina were held home and away in that 11 game unbeaten run, as were Colombia and Croatia, Iceland, New Zealand and Scotland were all put to the sword after qualification was complete.
I believe that they have been underrated in this group and odds of 2/1 on the 11th best ranked side in the world to qualify look very appealing to me.
Under 2.5 goals v France @ 25/26 – BET NOW
In terms of their best bet for the group stage, I believe that under 2.5 goals in their opening game against France represents good value at 25/26. France don’t blow teams away – only winning by more than two goals in three of their last 18 matches at the time of writing, whilst Australia will be looking for a point here really and played a defensive game to draw 0-0 with Colombia recently.
