A dominant victory in Abu Dhabi from Tyrrell Hatton has seen him jump four places up to fifth in the world rankings and he is the clear form favourite to win this week's Dubai Desert Classic.

With no Rory McIlroy or Justin Thomas in the field, Hatton is the one they all have to beat at Emirates Golf Club, which has hosted this event almost every year since 1989.

Europe's second-best golfer, as Hatton now has only Jon Rahm above him in the standings, will have his backers at odds of 15/2. His all-round game was superb last week and with similar conditions expected he will have to be on the shortlist. However, it is worth remembering Hatton is now half the price he was compared to the last event. 

High winds caused havoc last year, but generally speaking you need to go low in the scoring department and Hatton's main market rivals are Tommy Fleetwood, who struggles for consistency, and Emirates debutant Collin Morikawa at 10/1 and 12/1 respectively.

Sergio Garcia has won around this track previously and was third behind Bryson DeChambeau so he ticks the course form box, while the Spanish ace teed it up in Hawaii before arriving in the Middle East, playing well to finish 11th alongside Dustin Johnson at the Tournament of Champions before a lesser performance at the Sony Open at a course which is not a great fit.

Garcia should benefit from two competitive PGA Tour outings and his Desert Swing form 12 months ago read 8-23-6.

Christiaan Bezuidenhout - BET NOW

In terms of a rock-solid each-way shout there are few more attractive looking options than Christiaan Bezuidenhout.

He was 12th in Abu Dhabi and the South African finished his 2020 season with back-to-back wins in his homeland before jetting to Dubai to contest the Tour Championship, where he finished 14th .

Bezuidenhout was unusually poor with the putter last week but he is normally strong with the flat stick and should be fancied to do better on the dancefloors this week.

Antoine Rozner - BET NOW

December Golf in Dubai winner Antoine Rozner could outperform his odds.

He won twice on the Challenge Tour in 2019 and was a playoff loser in Mauritius last season on the European Tour before beating Andy Sullivan in Dubai.

The French fancy was 16th last week and finished strongly with a 68. It won't be long before he makes the breakthrough to the world's top 100 players.

Others to consider are Sullivan and 175/1 longshot Jayden Schaper, who went close to winning the Alfred Dunhill Championship before Bezuidenhout showed all his class and experience to reel in the teenager.

Schaper will have to rely on sponsors exemptions for now but it surely won’t be long before he earns full European Tour status.
