2021 US Open Golf Betting Tips
The US Open takes place at Torrey Pines this week, with Bryson DeChambeau looking to retain the crown he won comfortably last year. Standing in his way will be 72 holes and almost all of the big names in men’s golf.
The tournament, the third major of four in the calendar, is the most lucrative of them all and has a stellar cast chasing the trophy.
US Open Betting Odds
Favourite for this year’s event is Jon Rahm, priced up as short as 8/1 in places, after he was forced to withdraw when six shots clear with a round to go in the Memorial Tournament following a positive Covid-19 test. Dustin Johnson, winner of the 2020 Masters, is second in the betting at a best price of 16/1. He is followed closely by reigning champion DeChambeau and his rival Brooks Koepka, who are both 18/1 shots.
Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele and Jordan Speith are next in the betting, all available at a best price of 20/1 to win the title.
US Open Longshot
Louis Oosthuizen to win and each-way - BET NOW
At a big price, Louis Oosthuizen goes into this tournament with good claims. The South African finished second at the US PGA before an 18th-placed finish at the Memorial. His record at this event is strong, with his last two efforts both in the top 10 as he posted finishes of seventh and third.
Oosthuizen has finished in the top-25 seven times in 11 attempts at this tournament so clearly relishes the test. His recent form is better than most as well, with three top-10 finishes in his last seven tournaments. He is available at 55/1 to add to his lone major, the 2010 Open Championship.
US Open Prediction
Collin Morikawa to win and each-way - BET NOW
Many of the players at the head of the betting for this tournament have obvious claims based on their previous record at this course or their recent form. However, Colin Morikawa has proved himself to be ultra consistent recently and can secure his second major tournament after he won last year’s PGA Championship.
Since winning the WGC-Workday Championship, Morikawa has finished in the top 25 in five of the six tournaments he has competed in, with three top-10 finishes. He was beaten by Patrick Cantlay in a playoff at the Memorial Tournament last time out so is clearly in good nick. Morikawa is also top of the greens-in-regulation statistic on the PGA Tour and his consistency can be rewarded here with a win. He is a 22/1 shot to do so and that is a fair price.
