The US PGA Championship is just two weeks away and a number of top PGA Tour stars are in Charlotte, North Carolina, to contest the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club in a bid to sharpen their game ahead of the second Major of 2021.

Quail Hollow, a demanding 7,600-yard par 71, has hosted a Major in recent years, the 2017 US PGA, so this is a fine chance for the likes of Justin Thomas, Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy to test themselves against a tough course where top-quality ball-striking comes to the fore.

2021 Wells Fargo Championship Betting Odds

Justin Thomas claimed his only Major triumph at the aforementioned 2017 US PGA and is 11/1 joint-favourite to win the Wells Fargo. He is joined at the head of the betting by Jon Rahm, who plays his first regulation event since a top-five at the Masters.

Bryson DeChambeau, with his power-packed game, is a good fit for this course and is 14/1 to win while two-time champion Rory McIlroy continues his quest for top form after he fell to 15th in the world rankings, his worst position in over a decade. He is 20/1 for the victory.

The tournament is due to start at approximately 12:00 UK time on Thursday

2021 Wells Fargo Championship Prediction

Justin Thomas to win and each-way - BET NOW

McIlroy is a fascinating contender. He missed the cut at the Masters but has since had time to work with newly-appointed swing guru Pete Cowen and a return to Quail Hollow, scene of his PGA Tour breakthrough, is a big positive.

However, the Northern Irishman is difficult to trust and, of those at the top of the market, preference is for Thomas, who oozed long-game class when 13th at the Valspar last week.

A cold putter cost Thomas dearly at the Copperhead Course, but he ranked first in strokes gained tee-to-green and any flat-stick issues can quickly be remedied back at the course where he became a Major champion.

A brilliant winner of the Players Championship in March, JT is one of the most consistent players in the world and this is a venue which is made for his many talents.

Viktor Hovland to win and each-way - BET NOW

As far as long-game class is concerned, super-consistent Viktor Hovland is a perfect fit and the Norwegian is expected to go well on his Wells Fargo debut.

Hovland has rewarded his each-way backers with five top-six finishes from nine stroke play appearances in 2021, including when charging through the field on Sunday to finish third at the Valspar. A third PGA Tour win could be on the cards for this immense talent.

2021 Wells Fargo Championship Long Shot

Rickie Fowler to win and each-way - BET NOW

Rickie Fowler was 12/1 to win this event two years ago but the extent of the Californian's decline can be illustrated by the fact that he is a whopping 75/1 to win this week.

However, Fowler produced his best effort in some time when 17th at the Texas Open last time out, striking the ball well from tee to green, and he adores Quail Hollow.

The 32-year-old won the Wells Fargo in 2012, boasts three other top-six finishes in the event, and was also fifth behind Thomas at the 2017 US PGA.
