The Zurich Classic of New Orleans is one of the oldest events on the PGA Tour which was given a significant makeover four years ago when it became a unique pairs competition.

Won by Cameron Smith and Jonas Blixt in 2017, the tournament, which has been staged at TPC Louisiana every year since 2007, comprises team fourballs in rounds one and three and foursomes, otherwise known as alternate shot, in rounds two and four.

Jon Rahm and Ryan Palmer were unlikely teammates when this event was last staged two years ago but the Spanish superstar and the Texan journeyman combined brilliantly to win by three shots.

With Rahm in excellent form and Palmer still hugely consistent, it's no surprise to see them heading the Zurich Classic market at 15/2, the same price as Xander Schauffle and Patrick Cantlay.

Smith teams up with fellow Australian Marc Leishman for this edition and, with both of them in decent form at the Masters recently, it's no surprise to see them chalked up at 10/1.

The tournament is due to start at approximately 13:00 UK time.

2021 Zurich Classic Prediction

Billy Horschel & Sam Burns to win and each-way - BET NOW

Rahm and Palmer have clear claims but this tournament can be volatile as far as scoring is concerned and there is no great desire to back the favourites at single-figure odds. Instead, Billy Horschel and Sam Burns could prove the best bet as they team up for the first time in the event.

Horschel claimed the Zurich Classic in 2013, before it was a team competition, and he won it again alongside Scott Piercy in 2018. He arrives in Louisiana in fine form having claimed the WGC-Match Play recently.

Burns's recent form is not so strong but he was third at the Genesis Invitational in February and produced his best effort since, when 39th at the Heritage last week. He is a Louisiana native, attended Louisiana State University, and should be comfortable in his home state.

Sungjae Im & Byeong Hun An to win and each-way - BET NOW

Byeong Hun An was beaten in a playoff at the 2016 Zurich, the final edition before the new format was adopted, and the Korean can join forces with his compatriot Sungjae Im to win on the PGA Tour for the first time.

Im has been wonderfully consistent since making his PGA Tour debut and will enjoy these bermudagrass greens while An's recent performances have perhaps not been as bad as four straight missed cuts would suggest and he should enjoy a return to this course.

2021 Zurich Classic Long Shot

Richy Werenski and Peter Uihlein to win and each-way - BET NOW

At bigger prices, the duo of Richy Werenski and Peter Uihlein catches the eye after Uihlein won the MGM Resorts Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour last week.

Werenski won the Barracuda Championship in August and, while his recent performances have been less than stellar, he was fourth at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March and opened with a promising 69 at the Heritage last week before missing the cut.

These two are both from Massachusetts and both reside in Jupiter, Florida, which suggests they could combine well and outrun their odds.2021 Zurich Classic.
