The European Tour’s trip through the Middle East concludes this week with the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters. Eddie Pepperell lifted the trophy last year and here we check out the betting possibilities for the 2019 edition with these Qatar Masters tips.

Commercial Bank Qatar Masters

(Thu Mar 7 - Sun Mar 10)

Victor Dubuisson Top 10 finish @ 11/4 - BET NOW

It would not be unfair to say that the field for this week’s tournament is one of the weakest you will see in a European Tour event, with Belgium’s Thomas Pieters a 10/1 favourite in the Qatar Masters betting. It is true that the former Ryder Cup star did manage a share of sixth at last week’s Oman Open but he has not really looked like winning since last summer.

It is a bit of a lottery to pick a winner here and so I am looking at top 10s in the golf odds and Dubuisson seems to be trending in the right direction once again. The Frenchman’s star has been on the wane since he represented Europe at Gleneagles, but back-to-back top-20s show that he is competitive once again. The 28-year-old has missed far too many cuts for his liking in recent seasons but managed to finish third in both the Alfred Dunhill links and Nedbank Challenge towards the back end of last season.

He can blow hot and cold but appears to be on a decent run at the moment. There is nothing stopping the Cannes-born ace winning this week and several golf tipsters feel he has a chance, but I feel hedging your bets with a top-10 is the way to go here.

Jorge Campillo Top 10 finish @ 11/4 - BET NOW

Another player who has decent Qatar masters odds is Spain’s Campillo and 33/1 to win seems generous seeing as he managed a share of second in Oman last week. The 32-year-old has never won a tournament on the European Tour but did bag seven top-10 finishes last year, including a fourth-place effort in Oman. He clearly likes this part of the world and may take that form and knowledge into this week’s Doha event.

The word number 99 has made a slow start to the year but last week will have been exactly the shot in the arm he needed and I expect to see him up challenging once again.

Tom Lewis Top 10 finish @ 11/4 - BET NOW

My final top-10 tip is England’s Lewis, who enjoyed his breakthrough year in 2018, with a second victory in the Portugal Masters and another four top-10s. His Portugal triumph came seven years after his first success and resurrected a career that appeared to be on the slide.

The 28-year-old played several Challenge Tour events but competed well when with the big boys and, in truth, does not have many top-name stars to deal with this week.

A third in the Saudi International was impressive although his last two results have been down with the also-rans but, when on song, he looks every bit a winner in waiting.
